Buick Ownership
2011 Buick Lucerne
Hello everyone. My wife was gifted a 2011 Lucerne by her father and it’s only got 14,xxx miles. While I am mechanically inclined, this will be the first GM product I’ve worked on and no close friends or families have any either. What are some common things to worry about? So far I’ve heard keeping up on maintenance is key, and to keep an eye on motor mounts and the transmission. Any other pointers?

The low mileage is a plus and if any service records are available that is also something to review. Maintenance is looking at all fluids as with most vehicles it's mileage and/or years which your vehicle is under the mileage it over the years so something to consider.

The battery should be inspected and dates noted depending on if and when it was serviced last, born on date and months of usage.

While it may have been addressed the rear fuse box and the fuel pump fuse and relay may need to be considered looking at. A TSB was issued that the rear seat clip would press into the tall relay causing the relay, box and fuel pump issues.

Spending some time looking at the posts in the Lucerne forum on your year and engine would be time well spent, ignoring the V8 Northstar and the 3.8L.

Best of luck on the new vehicle and enjoy the ride.
