oil pump issues

i have a 2006 lacrosse 3.8 6cyl. oil pressure light keeps coming on and ringing intermitenly. plenty of oil in engine. would it be the oil pump or sensor i would need to fix.

First guess is a failing oil pressure sending unit, but the pressure should be checked with a mechanical when replacing.

Agree with Jerry or maybe just swap the sending unit. They are easy to access and swap. Also, if you onboard display does not display the pressure being sensed, an OBDII scanner should be able to display the oil pressure.
