www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zbrr-92qtYU[/url] Will this really give me enough access to the tcc solenoid, to pull out the pin and then the solenoid as well?

Do I strictly have to lower the subframe and all that stuff? I don't think it would go well if I disconnected the rack and pinion too. Mine is '98 lesabre with 3800 series II engine and 4t65e trans..

Code is p0742 with CEL on. CEL has gone back off though. Shifts really aren't bad at all. Only concern is the grumbling, humming sound coming from trans. side case area where tcc solenoid is?

Has anyone ever been successful with a seafoam fix to clean out debris that may be causing "stuck on" problem with solenoid? Do I just pour the stuff right into to filler tube of trans.?

I would first check the transmission connections and wiring for issues first. You can also do some resistance checks of the solenoids for shorts or opens.Try a chemical cleaner prior to doing a pan drop/filter change. I would not do a flush. Problem is if the trans is loaded with debris it is hard to remove and often indicates a lot of wear has already taken place. You might want to seek the services of a good shop for an estimate. The problem is with a 98, it is not worth putting a lot of money into it if the simple things check out.

Can you run a resistance check on the solenoid with the transmission side cover still on?

Is Seafoam an example of chemical cleaner to use in there? What are some others?

Yes, you have to identify the proper pinouts of the connector feeding the transmission, I would disconnect battery to be safe.. I don't recall the resistance specs (10 ohms ?) but you can compare readings to the others which should be about the same.
Sea Foam is good, I would run it with the Sea Foam for a short time prior to draining. The problem is that solenoids are like magnets and once some debris gets pulled into them, it's hard to get it working again. You might luck out, you have nothing to lose.
