There is a pronounced vibration or "jitter" when turning the steering wheel in either direction while cornering. It's only present while the steering wheel is being turned, it stops once the steering wheel stops turning. The vibration can be felt not only on the steering wheel itself, but throughout the whole chassis. Anyone know what this could be? Been doing it for several months, but getting worse.

It sounds like wheel/hub bearings could be at fault, but it could also be the C/V joints. You need to have the whole front drive-train inspected for wear. How many miles on the car?

I hate to repeat myself, but regardless of the miles & maintenance records, an 18-yr old front drive-train system needs some detailed inspection & attention! Have you ever had that whole system left/right inspected for part failure? You could also have something as simple as a P/S pump serpentine belt slipping?? Has that P/S system been eliminated?
