I have my mechanic replacing the window motor for my 92 RM.

He is telling me the motor is burning out because there is a plastic clip that goes into the window slier channel that is making the window "skew" and stopping the window from going up.

he said that part is discontinued and asked me to Google to find some of those. i have no idea what they are called. Anyone have info on this and has opened up the door to see what is inside there? Any suggestions on finding parts for this area of the car?

To add a little, I have been searching on Google and this poster said not to even use these track sliders as they will break again but to use a roller instead. then he gave a part number - I am looking this up now.

I am not doing the repair myself so I feel a little like out of my element on what I am talking about here 🙂

There is lots of info on here including pictures if you do a search. I just finished up my last door this morning. The forum is a big help for me, this is my 1st GM in 35 years and they are foreign to me. My route was a little different as I pulled all the glass out so I could scrape the nasty old tint off, I had to fix a couple of door lock actuators, refurbish all the door panels and install a component speaker system in the front doors. I now have 4 clear window ready for re-tint,that go up and down, 4 doors that lock & unlock, secure door panels and a better speaker setup. I used the sliders because I did not know about the rollers, however since I pulled the glass and did them on the bench, I was able to clean out all the old dried grease and burrs from the channels. I used lots of epoxy and super glue, rivets, panel clips, suspension grease, white lithium and half a box of band-aids!

I'll let you know how they last in the Arizona heat, it was 118 today😀

GM Part # 9666748 is what i used when i did mine.

I don't do my own repairs, but the guy who fixes my windows always replaces broken sliders with the rollers. Well documented swap. He says they will never break again and from what I can see I believe him. They work perfectly. I don't know why anyone would use the sliders, which are prone to cracking. Last window I had fixed had the sliders, and by the color you could tell they were not original. I was is Phoenix last week and indeed the heat was amazing. Rented a full-size car was was given a Crown Vic instead of the Impala I was expecting. A bit underpowered, but a nice temporary replacement for my Roadie -- same color too!

During the work I discovered a bulb in the drivers inside door handle, I assumed it was to illuminate the handle but when I searched my shop manual for the bulb size I found out it is to illuminate the window switches. It is a size 37 bulb.

I have the service records from Buffmans car. In 97(two years old), it had a winder slider replaced. Then Buffman replaced them again in the same door, IIRC.

Well the only time the rears go down is when its cool enough for my dogs to hang their heads out. As for the fronts, I usually replace speakers every 6 months or so as I am always searching for the perfect sound, I will have easy access to replace them as needed. Next time I will look for the rollers- LOL!
