Has anyone successfully programmed a new remote for their 2007 Buick Lacrosse?

I just did a quick Google search. It doesn't look like "self programming" is possible for the 2007. Others here probably know better than I. I just programmed a new remote for my 2013. It was a bit of pain, but doable.

Because my original ones were so faded, I had to buy aftermarket ones for the 2008.

DIY: no can do. The dealer has to do it.

I took it to a dealer I had gotten good results from in the past. They were able to do it. I was nearby and saw that tech encountered a few glitches along the way while doing it, but he finally figured it out. I paid the cashier and I still have the 2 aftermarket ones working 5 years later.

If you are replacing only because the remote case is bad, just take the pc board out of the old case and put it into the new case. I did that with my 2010 Lacrosse remote and also installed the old key into the new remote case. Bought the new empty case on Ebay.

+1 on the case; if it's just that they are $15 or something on ebay; take out its innards and put the contents of your original fob in there.

When I lost a fob and had to have the car reprogrammed to a new fob, the independent locksmith in town was way, way cheaper than the Buick dealership. Took him about 30 minutes, and that included cutting and programming a new key, too. Best advice is to buy a new fob online and take it to a proper locksmith to program.

+1 on this, but make sure when you buy online that the fob you buy will work with your car. I managed to buy one that didn't work with my 2013, and I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what the correct fob was.

As an example, my 2013 is equipped with "PEPS", which means "proximity entry, proximity start". Not all 2013 LaCrosses are equipped with PEPS, so not all fobs sold that are claimed "compatible" with the 2013 LaCrosse support PEPS. Moreover, some fobs that are claimed compatible with PEPS actually aren't.

Not sure how much of this is relevant to the 2007, but I went through this recently for my car so I thought I'd share it.
