Question re Continental Procontact TX ContiSilent Tires

Last week I purchased a 2018 Buick Regal Sportback 2.0 turbo AWD. So far I really like it. It has around 54K miles already but looks to be in good condition. It has Continental Procontact TX tires on it. The build date on the car is Oct 2017. The rears are probably original since according to the DOT the manufacture date is in 2017, but the fronts must have been replaced fairly recently because they have more tread left and according to the DOT the manufacturer date is in 2020.

My question is, how do I tell if these are the ContiSilent ones? I looked at the sidewall on each of the tires and don't see anywhere where it says or denotes ContiSilent. Am I just missing it, looking in the wrong spot and not seeing it? Or is it marked on the back side of the tires?

Since the rear tires are original and worn, I'll be ordering a new set of 4 pretty soon. I just don't know if I want to stick with the continental procontacts TX again or not. The ones on it seem kind of noisy. Of course, they might not be the ContiSilent ones. They do seem to be wearing well though, worn evenly and no cupping, so I think the alignment must be OK. But when I get new ones I will have the alignment checked.

Thanks
Gary
Get you a good set of Michelin. Someone else mentioned it, but they usually have a “Buy 4” deal. Sam’s Club generally has the best prices for a set of 4 with installation, lifetime balance/rotation and road hazard.

Reminds me of a colleague that one of my other colleagues commented: "They couldn't actually be THAT stupid, could they?"
Then they say, "Challenge accepted". 🤣

Good Lawd! I just looked at some Michelin tires and I was shocked at how much they’ve gone up. Industry reports say prices are up 24% and they’re expected to rise another 10% this year.

A set of 4, which sold for about $900 installed last year, is now $1,350.

This has been my conclusion upon pricing out options too. Costco has the best price in my area. My only, and major, concern is can these Costco/Sam's Club techs be trusted to mount tires on the 20" wheels without destroying them?

I'll be damned if I went through all the trouble of importing the Insignia 20's from Germany, only to have them trashed before they're even mounted on the car. I have no experience with them so maybe my concerns are unwarranted. Even designated tire shops can screw up a wheel if they don't have the right equipment or good techs.

Over the years I've taken my $98k Audi down to my $6k Dakota to Costco for tires and have never had an issue with their installation professionalism. Ever.
Sam's Club may be a different story.

Always a good idea to check online-only sites for tires as well. When one sale ends, the next one starts. Last fall I got a set of the Michellin X-Ice Snow, (their latest upgrade from the X-Ice 3 model), from a Canadian online tire and wheel retailer. CAD$864 incl tax and free delivery for 4 225/55R17's. That was at least $200 cheaper than Coscto and other brick and mortar outlets at the time. The website was based in Ontario, but when the tires arrived, they came from a distributor in Sherbrooke, Quebec, not far from where the tires are manufactured. Regardless, these are the best winter tires I've ever owned. Quiet, smooth, excellent grip on ice, snow and even wet roads. I mounted them to a set of Art Replica Element gloss black rims I got on another website, for CAD$125 each, incl tax and free shipping. Only 10 bucks more than standard steel rims. They look so good on the car, I'm thinking of getting a set of the same rims in the 18" version, and mount the Conti-silents on them for the summer, instead of leaving them on the stock rims.

It’s funny you mentioned that because I used to be a tire tech at Sam’s in 1993-94. We had a good group of guys and everyone used the proper tools for premium wheels. I’m sure they still have good techs and equipment, but if you wanna be safe take some pics of your wheels and add the time/date stamp.
