I believe I'm going to need a larger vehicle soon and I've yet to get to a dealer to test fit, so does anybody else have a rear facing car seat behind the driver's seat? How does it fit? Please post your height if you run it in this config. I'm about 6'1" for reference. Having the seat behind the passenger or center isn't a great option for ease of getting the kid in and out. Obviously car seats are going to vary in size but I wanted to get an idea if this would be doable.

From what I can see online, the rear seat seems to be the same dimensions for the sedan/hatch/wagon. Any other experiences (good or bad) with car seats fitting would be helpful as well.

Thanks!

One of the biggest reasons we bought a TourX was for our newborn. A rear facing car seat in my Jetta wagon about killed me as I’m 6’4”.

I run the rear facing seat in the middle as it’s the safest position for a newborn, but there is still plenty of room behind the driver seat for a rear facing seat if you want to run it that way. I’ve had no issues getting the seat in and out of the center position (Chicco KeyFit 30). My wife (5’8”) sits behind me next to the baby in the center and has plenty of room.

Thanks, that's helpful. Have you tried a convertible car seat back there yet? We used the same infant carrier and have a Chicco nextfit now that's she's outgrown the infant one. It seems a little more bulky or longer (somehow) than the infant carrier as I could fit the infant carrier in the center no problem, but not the convertible seat without compromising how far back I can put my seat.

Hopefully I can get to a showroom soon and just test it out and find out one way or another.

You will have plenty of room. This guy is 5'11" and his rear facing car seats fit fine:

Interior - Leg room for days. I’m 5'11". I have a fully comfortable seating position and two rear facing cars seats behind me WITH INCHES TO SPARE AND IT IS GLORIOUS!!!!! There is a solid 4-5 inches between my seats and the car seats. There is a cavern behind the 2nd row that fits a dog and a battle wagon twin stroller. Materials could be better, but I’ve got leather, heated seats, and dual-zone climate control so I don’t care. Is it a luxury car? No. It is slightly nicer than most mainstream interiors, yes.
