I have my Android phone paired with my encore GX Essence. I cannot receive texts. I was told by the dealer after a month of trying that texting works through Android auto. It's installed on my phone and is activated on my car. Still no texts? Do I need to un-pair my phone and re-pair it? It's worked fine on my Cascada and the Envision I traded in. I've had the car 6 weeks and I'm liking it less each week.
I have a knocking noise on acceleration when the engine is cold. Dealer tells me that's normal. I just also found out I have to keep Onstar to continue to use the Navigation. It's a shame you spend 35k for a car and have to pay a monthly fee to keep the accessories you paid extra for working. I guess I'll have to dig out my old GPS or use Android auto. Sigh.

Any help with the texting issue would be appreciated.

Did you try turning AA off on phone and car?
Did your car come with the Navigation package, if so it doesn't use OnStar.

I do have the Nav package. When I used it for the first time last weekend there was a message saying I only had x number of days left before my Onstar package expired and the Nav feature would no longer work. On my previous Buick's the Nav worked regardless of having Onstar or not. I may have misundestood the message. I'll have to use it again to see. I've turned the AA on and off, still no texts. Does anyone know if you can connect to AA without the cord? Thanks

Bluetooth should permit AA connection

I think that is a feature they changed. in order to get texts, your phone has to be connected with your USB. In my 2018 Encore, they came automatically through the infotainment unit. Maybe they changed it for "safety" reasons, but it is annoying. I'd be interested to know if i'm just missing something in my GX.

Update,

I had the car at the dealer and they were able to pair other andriod phones to my car and get texts using the usb cable. So, the problem is with my new andriod phone. Samsung says they don't have a fix.

Your phone has its own data plan, there is no need to purchase the Onstar data.

I know that. It's not the Onstar data, it's the data plan from Buick. I currently HAVE a few months free Onstar data, but I still can't use Alexa or have my texts read aloud, like I can with the Buick data.

Nope. It's a GM thing--as a rep told me, the app they used previously to have it happen is not an app they use now. I won't get another GM when this lease is done unless they fix it without me being tethered by a cord! I think they just prefer every one use Android Auto (ugh) or Apple Car Play.😡

You car sounds just like mine, I have the 2020 Essence, fully loaded . And I paid for the wireless charging pad, which I can't use if my phone is plugged in. It's still charging being plugged in, but I could have saved $ on that feature. My sales rep didn't even know GM dumped that text-read feature until I told them!🙁

I had this problem with my iPhone and Buick Enclave. I had to change a setting in my iPhone. The following worked for me:
On your phone Go to Settings > Bluetooth > Your Car > tap the little circle with the i in it. Turn on Show Notifications.

Hope this works for you, too.

Did you ever get this texting issue fixed? Just got 2021 Encore GX Essence with navigation, etc. and cannot have text messages read! Just curious.

What year Enclave? The issue is that GM took out the app that did the notification and read back texts across all models.

Still not fixed. I gave up. I'll have the dealer look at it again when I take it in for it's first oil change.

Yep. Wireless charging pad, NAV, heads up display, etc. Loaded. But, we can’t have texts read aloud?! That’s insane! Is that accurate?! It just doesn’t seem like that would be right!
