Hi, my name is Ola Nilsson, I´m a new member from Stockholm, Sweden.
I bought my Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon 1995 this spring. And I love it!
Unfortunately I´m having problems with the transmission; the downshift do not function proper.
I´ve had it scanned with the result that it showed a bad solenoid (3-2). It´s been replaced but the same problem is still around.
I´ve cleaned the contacts from the pcm to the transmission, I´ve fixed an improved grounding; same problem is still around...
The thing is, when we ("mr automatic-transmission-man" and me) drive around with the external "pcm" connected, and he overwrites the malfunction-code, the car runs so smooth and through all gears with no problems. Hence, he says that the transmission is not the problem. The malfunction-code occurs when the car goes from 1st to 2nd gear and then the problems are back. 😡
So "mr automatic-transmission-man" advised me to change the pcm and that´s what I´m about to do.
My question for the forum is whether any of you have experienced anything like this and have some advise to give, secondly I would like to know if any of you know whether you need to reflash a new or used (but ok) pcm. On ebay I found several and they are not that expensive. Would you recommend a new or used pcm?
Thanks! 🙂
