Hello guys. Is there any difference between Regal full led and Insignia Intellilux headlights despite “LUX” note inside the headlight? Is it just plug and play or does it have more differences?

I understand that Regals do not have Opel Eye and dynamics functions will not work. Im wondering if LUX headlight swaped to Regal will turn signals, low beam, high beam, auto leveling work properly ?

I’m wondering the same… wanted to bump your post.

Some of us have loosely looked into this. At least for me, it was to gain full functionality of the adaptive lighting. As mentioned, this is not going to be possible without the Opel Eye and the corresponding software.

From a pure compatibility standpoint, the Opel LED headlamps do everything the Buick Headlamps do, so all of the Buick functions should still operate. Based on pictures online, the electrical connections look identical... same number of pins and everything. So at least from a mechanical standpoint, they should bolt right up.

We probably won't know until someone gives it a try. ZKW is the headlight manufacturer. You could always try contacting them for more info.

Anyone just convert their head lights to LED? If so what brand did you choose? And part number would be great

My Avenir's headlights are LED. They auto-level and respond to cornering, and they basically put on a mini light show when you arrive and leave the car. Is that what we're talking about here?

IntelliLux LED Headlights

The LH used one cost 305.70 USD, RH 359.96 USD

See Part # for the reference

The new IntelliLux LED headlights also include a high-beam spotlight that can illuminate as far as 400 meters for better visibility at nighttime.
The system – which is adopted from the Insignia and Grandland Opel flagships – is unique in the compact class and features 168 continuously reacting LED elements (84 per headlamp) that ensure that the light output is precisely adapted to the prevailing driving conditions, without glare for other road users.

Are you buying GM OEM LED headlight assembly? My guess you want to just swap halogen bulbs with aftermarket Chinese LED bulbs from Amazon? DON'T DO IT! Stock halogen reflectors are not designed for the brightness of LED and light beam is always blinding other drivers. I truly hope there will be a law against this type of mod because it is simply unsafe for everyone around you on the road. Get full OEM LED assembly or get a set of brighter Phillips halogens. I searched and bought my Regal with stock LED headlights exactly for this reason - I wanted good quality headlights and I am very happy with my decision. Intellilux LEDs are excellent.

what would be needed to pop them into a non led car and have the lux lights work?

If I understand correctly, non-LED Regal will not have proper software settings and/or may be missing corner lighting setup. I have two settings in my infotainment that are supposed to control my LEDs, but I am not seeing much difference. Therefore, OEM LED assembly may work in their default leveling. We will need an expert opinion here. If I did buy non-LED Regal, I would've upgraded to OEM LEDs already.

What model Regal have you got? What other options does it have? I'm thinking of things like, lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, detection of a vehicle ahead in your lane, auto wipers.

Do you know which Regal models were sold with the LED headlights as an option?

Are your LED headlights the IntelliLUX headlights or just a standard LED headlight? In other words are there two different LED headlamp options?

I'm keen on LED headlamps for my Commodore. The IntelliLUX headlights were only fitted to two Commodore models one of which is almost identical to the GS. I suspect the hardware to support the IntelliLUX lights is present in most models as it is possibly used for other functions as well. All that is needed is to fit the IntelliLUX lights and possibly enable their use in a software/firmware setting. So far no one has confirmed what the situation is.

The intelliLUX lamps are eye wateringly expensive. If there are other LED headlamps they may be another option.

Correct me if I am wrong, but what makes our LED headlights different from Intellilux is lack of software and lack of auto-high beam hardware? I believe matrix LED projectors are the same.
My Regal model is in my description: Sportback Preferred II with sights and sounds package. I don't really see a connection of lane keep assist with my LED headlights.

As mentioned above, an additional camera/sensor is needed (Opel Eye) to give commands to the BCM and then to the IntelliLUX headlamps. The ACC cameras are not enough. Software and hardware is needed in order to take full advantage of the LUX features.

Partially wrong.

Regals with a minimum of DC1 and DC2 packages have all the major hardware needed to make the Intellilux system work - other than the appropriate turn signal lever, the only physical retrofit required is a single wire which runs from the turn signal connector to the BCM. The rest is software.

As far as I can tell, "Opel Eye" is simply branding for the system as a whole, which includes the Intellilux system, the DC1/DC2 driver aids, and traffic sign monitoring.

You may ask how I know this, to which I would respond by directing you here. (There are still a couple of kinks to work out - the system doesn't yet display the blue high beam icon on the cluster when activating the high beams - but everything else seems to be operational.)

For someone who doesn't do Facebook can you post more info here.

I can't make the full videos upload here, but the TL;dr is basically that the matrix high beams can be made to work on our cars with few *physical* modifications, provided a minimum level of factory equipment. (There is a fair amount of software programming required, but the modules, camera and lights requires are all there.)

What is used to make the software changes? Is it a Tech 2 type diagnostic device to just change settings and enable features or does a GM proprietary program have to be uploaded to the car?

Your info is kind of what I expected, that is the control of the lights is largely governed by items that are already installed and used for other purposes as well.

If I knew I could install the LED lamps and have them work with manual switching between low and high beam (as happens now with the old style halogens) I'd be sorely tempted. The cost of the Intelliux units is a bit rich to buy them only to find they won't work at all.

Do you know if there's two models of LED lights fitted to our cars. The IntelliLux headlamp and a more basic LED non smart headlamp? I've got the impression that there might have been a basic LED headlamp fitted in the North Americam market based on some comments and the price mentioned for the LED headlamps. The price I've seen quoted by some in North America seems very cheap compared to the prices I've seen for the IntelliLux lights.

I can't speak as to whether the halogens and the LEDs can be plug-and-play swapped, but it's safe to say that the only difference between the North American LEDs and the European LEDs is simply the "LUX" branding etched inside the housing. Everything else is identical.

There is a "headlamp control module" separate and apart from the modules mounted in the rear of the LED units themselves, which may not be present on all Regals/Insignias/Commodores. If there, on LHD cars it is in the passenger cabin, mounted behind the dash and forward of the front door; I don't know where it'd be mounted on RHD cars.
