2015 regal
Thinking of going from 2015 regal to 2018 envision. Any advice out there?

I just traded in my 16' Regal GS for a 21' Envision. I needed more space for another kid coming so my reasoning may be different here. Overall I like the vehicle, but it certainly drives way different than the regal. I no longer feel as confident stepping on it and zipping out of a situation as I did in the Regal. Don't get me wrong it's got enough power to get around, (Drove much better than the Mazda 5 I tried) but it's not as fun to drive as the regal. It's quiet though, plenty of room in the drivers seat, great infotainment screen (big) and looks pretty sharp in the ST package. The 9 speed transmission is still taking me time to get used to, probably the worst thing about the car.

I can't speak to the 18' - I think the 18 has about 30 more horsepower than my 21' so you might be ok there.

If you need a bigger vehicle I'd say go for it.

I just drove a couple of ‘23’s. Although I think it’s only a second slower 0 to 60, my feeling is the nine speed transmission makes it feel too smooth and so it feels slower. Moving in and out of traffic on the freeway is definitely less confident. Cornering is not flat like the regal so I agree less fun to drive. Great looking vehicle though. In your case, definitely worth the change for the family. I also drove a Mazda CX 5. Amazingly closer feel to the regal sedan. Nowhere near as refined though. Although I’ve driven a lot of different brand vehicles in my life, I’ve come to really enjoy Buick. Hate to change.

2019 or 2020 envision with turbo with 30 more horsepower might be the ticket, but I can’t seem to find any lower mileage ones around.

15. Regal is in the shop now with engine problems, so I’m gonna have to pick something new. Your info was very helpful. Thanks.

We have a 21, so I use this for comparison. I recently was loaned a 2018 with the higher horsepower engine. Because of tuning, I actually felt the 21 to be faster and more responsive, although I thought the earlier engine MIGHT have sounded a bit better. But otherwise the current Envision is a much nicer car. Taste is subjective, of course, but I felt the newer model was much nicer, and the interior is a huge improvement. The steering was also a bit "hyper/twitchy" on the earlier model, making the newer model feel more confident at higher speeds.

2021's and newer have about 30 less HP but better fuel economy. All dimensions are approximately the same. The 2021's and newer have 10% less cargo capacity due to the back hatch sloping more versus being more squared off in the 2020's and older. If you like one of them, you will likely like the other.
