I noticed that there is a sharp smell coming from AC if I accelerate suddenly. It doesn't smell like gas or anything I can match but it is sharp and of course it goes away as the RPM lowers. I'm curious what might be the reason. Recently the check the engine light turned on due to emission system. I'll check that out but would be great to hear an opinion. Thanks!

*It's not a gas smell. It doesn't smell bad like a rotten egg as well. It is just sharp, so you do notice it. Almost like a very sharp perfume, but not a good one.
** This is for 2016 Buick Encore around 80k miles.

No it does not. Even at first, I thought it was coming from the scent that I use. It is just sharp, you do notice it. Just like a car scent but not a good scent, but it is not bothering like burning or gas scent. I can't really relate it to any known smell. Not burning like, not rotten egg, doesn't like a dead animal.

It only happens if I hit 4000-5000 rpm only for a short time. At first, I thought it was the scent I used then I thought I was passing something nearby that smells. Because it doesn't always happen when I hit the gas hard. But surely only happens at those times. I just figured this out recently.

I can't say I understand cars much, but I don't hear that kinda noise when idling. I'd definitely notice a squeaking when idling.

Not at idle, at high engine speed. Have the belt checked.
