Snow Tire Inflation Pressure?

D2R, the sidewall states max COLD pressure...before driving. Fill them up if you like a rock-hard ride. They can hold much more than that, probably double as a safety margin.

Are we sure about the "cold" part?
Anyway, I don't believe anyone should go anywhere close to that max pressure. 🙂
I’m sure. As an example my E450 has ‘D’ load range tires with a max inflation pressure of 80psi on the sidewall. The door jamb says 70 front, 80 rear, which is what I run.

The rears get above 80 while driving, I’m sure. Never checked but I would bet they approach 90.

Heat buildup is somewhat dependent on inflation pressure. There is a radial bulge at the contact patch that travels around the tire as it rotates. That flexing generates heat. An underinflated tire will heat up more/faster than a properly inflated tire. Friction with the roadway will also play a part.

As will partaking in the activity portrayed in your avatar. 🙂
