Squealing/chirping noise under the hood

Hope yours is a 2016. Mine is a 2017. Same P/N and all but they won’t cover mine.
My 2017 cascada with 41k is at the dealership with the same issue. Week before last they replaced the crankshaft seal. I asked the service adviser on the original visit about the tsb with the 2016s. So apparently there was not the same problem with the 2017s despite the same symptoms. Last week the check engine light went on. Brought back in and now it's a pvc tear and crankshaft cover replacement. Now, apparently there is the same problem. They state they are covering under warranty.

I drove mine the 300+ miles home with no issues other than the squealing and chirping. Out on the open highway in clean air it quieted down. Took it to the shop and was very fortunate that they had the correct parts. 4 hours later car fixed at no charge. Thank you all so much for the info on this forum. My husband and I would've tried to chase this problem ourselves for a while. But after everyone's exact descriptions of my issue I had no doubt this was the problem.

Well, I guess it’s my turn now. My 2016 Cascada with 27,000 miles started squeeking last week. I assumed it was a belt but today my alternator light came on and I panicked. Took the dipstick out and the noises stopped but the car immediately died. I called Buick here in town and the tech quickly diagnosed as most likely the same issue as you all have. Unfortunately they can’t get me in until next Wednesday December 14th. Can I drive it until then? I drive less than 20 miles per day.
He did mention that it takes about a month for the part to come in, IF they can even find it.
Pray pray pray it will be covered. Rental car reimbursement would be amazing as well because I know the dealership doesn’t have any loaners right now.
After this issue is repaired, is there any other issues coming around the corner that I should watch out for?

The serpentine belt wears quickly. The convertible top back glass separates from the top and that requires a top replacement - 2300 to 2500 fix. Gm "may" offer to cover 50-60% as a good will gesture. I'm on my third top. First on lasted 2 years, 2nd lasted 3 years.

I'm having the same issue and also was traveling a 400 or so distance on my trip. I have a 2018 however, and am wondering if they are covering all models. I have a squealing noise like a broken or loose belt. Took it to an auto shop in Traverse City and the the mechanic found this site for me after he checked all the belts and found nothing defective. Does anyone with a different model year have coverage by GM with this. My local deal has no loaner cars. Were others able to secure a rental car and have GM pay for them? Very nerve wracking to drive it home with this issue and the check engine light on. Any advice/help is appreciated.

My experience was with a 2016 Cascada. GM had a 'technical service bulletin" (TSB) for the problem with the crankcase ventilation valve. You can check thru GM for any TSB for your car. I was hundreds of miles from home also, the local Buick dealer had me back on the road on the third day. I did not have a rental thru GM nor the hotel bill for the extra stay. Frankly, I did not think to attempt it, but the repair was done at no cost to me due to the TSB. I'd not drive the vehicle, things could get much worse. Good luck.

My 2016 cascada had the squealing noise. Thanks to all of you I was able to go to the dealer with the paperwork in hand and it was covered 100%! It took two weeks to be fixed and I just got it back. There is no squealing and no engine light thankfully but when I started it this morning the engine is running rough and there is a ticking noise. I’m bringing it back to the dealer for an oil change and to address this sound. Has this happened to anyone else?

Hi. I'm a new member just joined to see how many others were having this same problem with their PCV / Camshaft Cover. I have a 2017, so I would suggest that anyone that has or has had this issue on their 2017 or 2018 (all same Part number Camshaft cover), please file a NHSTA case, so we can try to get those model years included in the GM Special Warranty Coverage (currently only for 2016 and 2019). The more cases, the more visibility to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and GM. It only takes a few mins to file a case and feel free to copy what you want from mine. Go to Report a Safety Problem | NHTSA and click on vehicle and Start Form, then just fill in the blanks.

NHSTA ID: 11607591: A squealing sound was coming from the top of my engine and I had low/rough idle and it progressed to a low voltage output and check engine lights. I was able to use GM's Special Coverage Adjustment N232395320 Camshaft Cover (for the 2019 Cascada) and Special Coverage Adjustment N192291620 Camshaft Cover Replacement (for the 2016 Cascada) to CONFIRM that I had a broken/cracked PCV. The PCV vent constantly pulled vacuum (was stuck open to atmosphere) and the sound was only relieved by removing the dip stick. I took my car to the Buick Dealership for an official Diagnostic repair order and to contact GM. The dealership did a poor job of communicating the issue but eventually reported that my PCV was leaking. This is a $1800-$2000 repair(I'm outside my warranty period as I'm at 72K miles) that GM only offered $110 to the dealership as cost assistance. The offer does not cover the $170 diagnostic fee. The PCV in the Casada is integrated into the Camshaft cover and requires that then entire cover be replaced for the repair. There is NO part number difference in the Camshaft cover between model years 2016 thru 2019 Cascadas. I believe that the 2017 should be included in the same Special coverage as the 2016 and 2019 model years. This issue has been noted in several Casada forums and is also the same as NHTSA complaint IDs: 11593462, 11587414, 11574318, 11515179. Note: I would like to attach a video of the testing required to confirm the PCV issue per the Special Coverage Adjustments noted above, but it is not in your supported file submissions formats. Please provide me with an email, drop box, etc location and I will forward it.

Thanks for the update. My valve/cam cover came in two days, which was shocking. The service manager told me it was covered under a special extended warranty that Buick is providing. He also told me the part number for the cover was changed and he thought the new cover was redesigned to eliminate the pcv valve failure issue. The bill was $1138.00 and I paid zero. Yay!
Model year. Thread comments appear to indicate warranty covered 2016 only though 16,17,18 all same part.
