It's been a while since I last posted, but I have found some really weird problems after installing a dash camera I recently purchased over Amazon. The only power accessorys I have used in the almost year that I have had the car are my Cobra and currently Beltronics V10 radar detectors and occasionally plugging my iPhone charger cube into the 110 outlet in the rear seat area for charging - not talking! I am wondering if anyone else is having issues like these when using power accessories. The detail are long winded and I am still accumulating data - Sorry - want to be accurate.

This is what the camera looks like.

And here is what has been happening.

Apr 07 - Installed ePrance Mini-0801 camera - routed supplied 9.5foot mini USB to 8-24V input - 5V 2A output Auto Power Plug from camera to under armrest 12V power plug (which I have never used before) and took for a test drive for about 15 minutes. Did not note any problems with car but wasn't looking for them yet.

Apr 08 - Used Camera for drives to and from work and for errands throughout the day. About 2/3rds to work, about 10 miles I noticed a tire sensor issue on the DIC. Pressure readings were present from all except the Right Rear tire which just had 2 dashes. After inspecting tire pressure manually I drove the rest of the way in, and of course to and from lunch. I noted during the day an increased number of times when I depressed the power button to power off the car the engine would power off but the car would go to accessory power mode, amber light instead of no light as usual, and in most cases when it did this I would get a Key not found on the DIC. Going to accessory mode did not happen 100% of the time, maybe 75% of the time, the usual is close to 0% of the time when I stop the engine to the car. I stopped by tire shop I use on way home, mostly to ask questions about failure of 2 year old or less GM TPMS Sensors - they said don't see them fail that soon or often, or just unsync often on GM's. I unplugged camera and had them reset tire locations, pressure returned to the right rear display. I connected power to camera again and proceeded drive home and about 2/3rds the way home, 10 miles, I get the TPMS message on the DIC again and again the Right Rear is not reading. When I arrived home I again encounted the start button issue with the key not found message and tested a few time, only getting it again most times when camera was plugged in, never when unplugged - using the same power outlet of course. I pulled my TPMS reset tool from the tool box and reset, all functioning fine again and I will keep TPMS Reset tool in car now. Left camera unplugged and also put a new battery in my Key ... old was 2.25V new was 2.6V.

Apr 09 - I did not connect power to the camera nor power it on all day - no problems.

Apr 10 - Saturday morning errands - Plugged camera into under armrest outlet before starting car, drove to breakfast about 8 miles. I continued to monitor tire pressure display along the way, all at 32PSI when first starting, at end of trip Front left at 34, Front Right and both rears still at 32. Thought it a bit strange but cool day in low 70's, no sun and some water on some of the streets. When I arrived at my destination I unplugged camera power then powered off vehicle, no problems. When I left about an hour later I plugged camera into power plug, check the displayed tire pressures, LF still at 34, RF now at 33 and both rears still at 32 then left hoping to heat up the tire but keeping speeds near the 35-40mph limits. Went to first errand - bank about 4-5 miles, rears still displaying 32psi and had issue when powering car off with power button/key not found. Before leaving bank decided to plug camera into a power splitter I had purchase with it in case needed and then into the same under armrest power plug thinking maybe it is some kind of RF issue in the conversion from 12V to 5V taking place in the adapter too near the key sensor. I procceed to highway - 2.5 miles at 40mph then postoffice - 3-4 miles 70+mph. Front tire pressures went up to 35 and 34, rears stayed at 32 all the way til I had a need for mass accellartion during which I got the TPMS error DIC message. Now the front tires were in the 36 PSI range but rears were both dashes. Arrived at postoffice, had the problems with the switch/key as before when powering vehicle off. I unplugged the power splitter from the power plug under the armrest, started car and drove home about 2 miles - before getting half way home - tire pressure of 34PSI showed on both the rear tires in the display. And I was headed home to reset the TPMS again ... did not need to.

Time for more testing with other power sources - maybe even the usb from the splitter or under the armrest.

Thusfar I have not tried the power plug on the dash, that one has always been used for my radar detector.

The video and audio on the files created by this camera with the currently shipping BIOS are very good. It uses MOV files now and with the right viewer it is seamless. But that review will be forthcoming if I can ever get past the problems I created this thread over. I plan to put my 2012 Regal TP1 on it first long trip this month and would like both the camera and radar detector working.
