Regal TourX
Hello,

Is there any way to temporarily disable service warnings? My 2019 Regal TourX has had a "Service pedestrian protection system" warning that pops up on every start up since new. The dealer says the part needed to fix it is on backorder with no ETA, and the constant warning is getting annoying. I know it's a problem, I don't need to be reminded multiple times a day.

There is no way for you to disable the warning.

Because it is a real DTC, it will come back fairly quickly even if you have the OBD-II tools to clear it. Be it the same ignition cycle or the next one.

Passenger protection I think refers to either seatbelts or airbags--the other systems you mentioned are pedestrian 'mitigation' features. Is the indicator on the instrument cluster or is it on the overhead console (passenger airbag status)?

Instrument cluster.

OK--if it's the 'seat belt' graphic there is a fault in the seat belt buckle or the pressure switch in the seat that says someone is sitting there. If it's the airbag light, could be the seat switch or other sensor which determines if there is a potential victim in harms way or one of the airbags is not responding to the 'are you ready' signal. Other than sitting in the passenger seats & buckling-in to see what effect that has on the indicator, a trip to the dealer may be in your future.

Thanks for the reply. I called the dealer Friday the service tech said they had not had this happen yet and they aren’t busy this coming week. I will be bringing it in. Also had lower control arms replaced that cured big noise over bumps but still have a noise from suspension over only certain bumps. First inclination is sway bar connection maybe. Had that problem on a Lexus very similar. Have been going thru the suspension posts to see if other posts about same issue. Useful forum. Thanks.

Is this the pedestrian protection? If so, I had the front sensor, mounted to the front impact bar, replaced. The connector was mounted right below the fill tube for the washer fluid. This caused any spilled fluid to get into the connector and caused it to corrode which set the light.

Both of these cars are ex rentals. I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Yeah, maybe rental places saw how long it was going to take to get replacement parts and said "F*ck that Sh*t" and unloaded them.

Pretty sure they wouldn't be able to loan them out to customers with that message displayed.

Hmmm it's like a jack in the box, when it pops up you push it back down. 😉

Mine was activated when i got in a tiny fender bender at 5mph. No damage to either vehicle but my hood popped up. Pushed the hood back down and it was good to go but i cant get rid of that damn warning. The warning is simply stating that next time there is an accident the hood will not pop back up unless you pay thousands to replace rhe small plastic piece broken on the hood

Any idea if there's a way to clear this code? Did yours show up all the time, like on every start up? I've been driving my tourx and it showed up once then disappeared, and today it showed up on the way to work, and I just touched the dismiss. It seems to have shown up twice in 4 months or so.

To my knowledge this car hasn't been in an accident, everything looks spiffy too. Eh.

What's up!

Rained, warning came on. Had the issue sensor replaced, and a leak found in the AC fixed and all seemed good.

One hell of a rain again and the warning pops back on. Normal?

Getting this looked at again under warranty, but you know, if it's a simple fix, like new rubber around the lights or water flicking up and annoying the sensors somehow might be easier for me to fix. Or a we'll know trickle down issue.

Cheers!
