Time to replace the original tires on my wifes '16 Regal GS and thinking of going with 255/40R19 rather than the stock 245/40R19. Has anyone run this size? Any issues?

I doubt there would be any fitment issues, just figured I'd check. Would like a little extra width and sidewall without throwing the speedo off too much. 255/40 seems to be the way to go.

I'm sure it would work, but then again, I'm no expert.

Why do you want to use wider tires?

They're barely wider and have just a bit more sidewall. Really looking for just a bit of extra sidewall cushion. The stock tire is really small and almost looks stretched on the OE wheels being 8.5" wide so figured going up just a bit would't hurt.

I'm sure they'll fit just fine, just figured I'd see if anyone else has done it already. Tires are ordered and going on next Friday so have some time to reconsider if I decide against it.

The GS with 20” wheels comes from the factory with 255/35/20 tires. Your 255 width will be no problem. Your new side wall will measure 4.02. The original side wall is 3.85. The difference in your speedometer reading will hardly be noticeable. I’m Installing 255/45/19‘s on my Regal this spring.

Excellent, thanks for the feedback. Going to go with the 255/40R19 for now and see how it goes. Even just a little more sidewall should help.

Got the tires mounted last Friday and so far so good. Definitely no rubbing anywhere and speedo is still in line with GPS. They look a little bit bigger, but ride a lot better with just even a bit more sidewall.

Just in case anyone comes across this thread in the future, 255/40R19 will work just fine on the stock GS 19" wheels.

Could you post some pics of your new tires mounted on your GS? ……..also does anyone know why the GS is quicker than the standard Regal turbo?

This will tell you everything you need to know, 😉

Or this one.

I have 255/40/19 on my GS 2016 since 1 year ago.

There will be no problem running those.
