- 2010 Buick Lucerne
I have a 2010 Buick Lucerne 3.7 L engine, front wheel drive that is have some transmission hiccups. I wanted to post my observations to see if anyone has some suggestions. I can handle my own on most systems on a car, but I admit that transmissions are not my forte. First there are no engine codes being displayed. Observations are as follows.
1. No engine codes showing or reading
2. The transmission has erradic shifting in the lower gears... Sometimes will drop down a gear at the touch of the pedal.
3. I am unable to hear any noise or grinding noises out of the norm.
4. When this is occuring the speedometer will flicker up and down and will not always accurately display the speed..
5. At times when starting from a stopped position, the speedometer will not move even though I am traveling approximately 20 mph.
6. There are times when it runs seeminly flawlessly.
7. When I notice the erradic shifting, it is not a real hard shift, but definately different.
8. The vehicle has 90,000 miles driven by a granma(as this car is actually my mothers) There have been many trips of 20 miles or less.
9. As far as I know the transmission fluid has not been changed. The fluid is darker, but not black and I plan to drop the pan and change the oil and the filter..
10. I notice the problem more frequently when the car is cold, but it has also happened once the car is hot.
These are my observations as best I can describe. I am happy to answer any questions to guide me in the right direction. For the most part, I am looking to see if it is something I can do myself or do I solicit the services of a professional. Any help is appreciated.
