Transmission Stumble & Clunk

trans mount isnt too bad in the front of the engine bay either
Just a piece of wood and a jack to lift up off the mount and some sockets /wrenches
I am still confused with the most recent posts! We keep going from a trans mount replacement to an L67/trans swap into a LeSabre??😕

I knew my front mount was bad again. Today I took it off and the bottom rubber was separated from the stud. This one was from advanced auto and it lasted under 2 years. I took it back to advanced and they replaced it under warranty. These mounts do not last, this is the second brand I have gotten in the last 2 years. I need to get my hands on a racing or heavy duty mount that's designed to last. I don't even beat on the car and it still went bad again.

Was the one you replaced from Advance a solid mount or hydraulic? Originally, they were hydraulic which were like a shock absorber. They last much longer. At least you got another one free under the warranty, so all you lost is some labor for the replacements!

The one i bad previous to this one that failed was a hydraulic. That one lasted about 6 months. The one that just failed and replaced under warranty is a solid.

Do you feel any engine/trans vibration in the car, or the steering wheel from the solid mount?

idk what you want from me, but i simply cannot be expected to not be cool and hip and similar things.

But its called conversation, topic popped up.
but on the mount, if someoen here would be so kind to buy the expensive gm mount and see if its like the originals(should be, long life relatively speaking and best performance)
hydraulic mounts have less rigidity at idle so they dont make your car shake as much and when your drivetrain is trying to flex and move faster, it stiffens up

I think you have totally misinterpreted my post. Others were asking about an L67 engine swap into a LeSabre, not you! You gave good advice, don't even try it do it with the original trans!

I'm revisiting this post. As of recent, nearly the whole front end has been rebuilt. Control arms, tie rods, ball joints, sway links, bushings, struts, and an alignment. The car drives straight and acts normal when driving with leisure; cruising down the highway or slow driving in town.

This clunk, I thought went away with the new front motor/trans mount. It turns out it may have just been dampened significantly. I've changed my driving habits to minimize this clunk when coming to a stop. I wait for the car to settle before accelerating, 3 seconds or more.

I've noticed a pronounced wheel wobble when making slower tight left turns. For instance, pulling out of my alleyway. The car also vibrates far more under WOT. Passing on the highway and freeway also produces a lot of vibration. It calms down a lot when I put the cruise back on to a constant speed. Neutral to Drive and neutral to reverse produce a dull thud.

The car has 130,000 miles on it. Is this textbook bad CV axles? The current ones are original as far as I know. Tires are 3 years old and have been recently balanced and rotated.

When at WOT, to me that suggests excessive engine movement, so I would look for any "dog bone" or snubber. If it does not have one, then check all of the other mounts to be sure the gooey goo is not moving more than it should, or that it has not split and is now letting both metal parts of the mount come in contact under high loads.

I've spent the last couple of days looking through forums and asking Google in many different phrasings but cannot find the exact issue I'm experiencing with my 2005 LeSabre with almost 130,000 miles.

Recently, if I decelerate/brake fast then immediately press the accelerator, the transmission seems like it hangs then slams into gear with a clunk. This will also happen if I am going through town leisurely, then accelerate abruptly, however this is more of a stumble than a clunk.

If it drive normally with light acceleration, like normal trips around town, stopping at stop signs for a few seconds or more, I don't experience any of the above and the trans shifts like butter in all gears.

The trans fluid has a few thousand miles on it. I suspect it may be a little overfilled from recent checks. I also am certain the front left trans/motor mount is smoked. The motor moves back a decent amount when revving in park and the mount looks bouncy. I plan to replace this in April when the weather is more favorable.

Thank you!
I've got an 05 LeSabre that was doing things VERY similar to what you described and it had absolutely nothing to do with the mounts. Mine was the transmission shift solenoids. After replacing them I've had no troubles. Good luck!

This car previously had the issue with max adapt and the car would shift hard in all gears after being warm. It also has the transgo shift kit which eliminated that particular problem.

The next step was to change the solenoids but from my understanding, it requires the side case of the trans to be removed. Was it hard to remove the side at home or in the driveway? Or did you have a shop perform the work?
