...filter....? ok i've always done my own oil changes and never had a problem until this car. it's actually my friend's car, it's a 1991 buick century with the 4 cylinder engine. i drained the oil then spent like 10 minutes looking for the oil filter. when i crawled back under the car i saw a strange circular metal cap with a recessed nut head on the bottom of the actual oil pan and it says "oil filter inside"! WTF is that? i've never seen that. i don't have a socket big enough to fit on the nut head, and my biggest one is 7/8. i tried a crescent wrench but it just rounded off two of the corners on the nut cuz it can't get enough surface contact because the nut head is recessed (flush with the bottom of the oil pan). is that really where the oil filter is? and if so, even if i get that cap off, how the heck am i supposed to get the filter off? tia

You take the cap off and pull the filter off it. Pretty simple set up. I don't remember what size socket it takes though, been a while since I've last worked on one.
