I have a 2001 LeSabre, and I have two technical questions. 1) The cruise control switch on the steering wheel does not work anymore. Normally, you hit it "on" and a amber light stays on. Right now, the only way I can keep the amber indicator on is when I hold down the button. Otherwise light will not stay on.

2) With the car in Park, if you rev the Engine to about 4000 RPM's it surges, or jumps, or I dont know how to describe it???? Anybody ever have this problem??

Thanks in advance, Mike

i cant answer your cruise light problem.

however the surging while in park at 4000 rpm (though i cant think of a reason anyone would do that) is your Governor keeping you from over-revving the engine and causing damage. its the same governor that cuts the throttle feed when you reach 109mph

your owners manual will have details

Same here, don't know why anyone would need to rev' the engine on an '01, but it's your car!

Cruise is proabably going to turn out to be a bad run of switches. Mine did same thing, switch on steering wheel was bad. Fortunately, it was still under warranty when it broke. Same happened to my brother's '01 - cost him $40 out of warranty.

cruise on-off switch

I just bought a used 2000 limited and my cruise switch did the very same thing. The switch is bad. Bought one at a Buick dealer for about $26. Very gently use a small flat screwdriver to pry the switch out of the steering wheel(it is only held in there by friction). Then disconnect the wire loom to it. Reverse the process and you're back in business.
