water pump on 3.6 2010 or newer?

Anybody had to get theirs changed? Just wondering what kind of price tag is normal? I am travelling and had to get mine done.

I had been quite happy with my car which had been trouble free thus far but now my lucky streak ended and ended up having to get a new one at 60k miles.

The water pump on my 2011 was replaced in warranty at 41000 mi in Oct 2013. Only because I noticed some coolant on the garage floor.

Had mine done a couple hundred miles before the btb ran out a couple months ago. It was certified, so my btb was out at 62K miles. I'll try to remember to find the paperwork and see if they put a price on it. It was losing a little bit of coolant.

I've got 30K on my 2013 and I noticed coolant on the garage floor awhile back. I took it in and the dealer ran a pressure check and concluded there was nothing wrong. I've had nothing on the floor since, but I'm suspicious that the water pump will go out soon. My warranty expires in December.

We sell two different GM water pumps. One has a lifetime warranty and goes for about $280. The other has a one year warranty and sells for $175. I believe they get two hours labor because the motor mount needs to come out to access the pump.

I got taken to the cleaners - I was charged 3 hours labour and about $280 for the water pump with a one year warranty (which is pretty much useless to me as I live in Canada and got the work done in Florida).

I'll double check with service today regarding the labor hours. I used to turn wrenches and I know I don't really want to tackle the job.

The beauty of the GM parts warranty is that it's good at any GM dealer.

It'd have to be a GM part for labor consideration. The OEM lifetime part number is 12657499 and the AC Delco one year is 19195148. Additionally, the lifetime pump comes with the torque to yield mounting bolts that are to be replaced with the pump, the one year does not. Those bolts are $6.67 a piece times six.

What does the torque to yield mean on these bolts?
I am told there are several bolts on this engine that are replaced when a component is removed.

"Torque to yield" means that when torqued to the specified value, the bolt stretches past the point of elasticity. It's supposed to increase the fatigue life of the bolt. The downside is that they're one time use only. And yes, they're being used in more and more applications.

Sorry, forgot about this thread. Mine was $390 under warranty. $185 for the lifetime water pump and $205 labor.
