What is the difference between transmission on a 1999 buickcentury 3.1, and a 2002 buick century 3.1. 😕

I would like to take the 3.1 motor out of my totaled 1999 buick centuryand put it in my 2002 buick century which has a blown 3.1 motor.

Will it bolt up right. I know the heads and intake are different, but I thought the block and the rest was the same.

Can some one please help me on this subject
thank you

All Centuries starting in year 2000 - 2005 changed to the GM 4T65E from the 4T60E tranny. Both are great trannies. The 4T65E has some parts that are improved upon. All in all, both are highy regarded transmissions. I wish my 1997 had the 4T65E. I have 125k on her with NO problems. See my post about driving to Michigan from Florida.

Also note, The 1994-1999 had the 3.1L L82. The 2000-2005 had the improved 3.1L the LG8.
