The rear passenger axle seal leaks on my 1995 Base Sedan. I thought it was the type of axle that had no "C" clips holding the axle in, but after pulling the drum I don't see the four holes in the wheel lug spindle, So does this mean it is definitely the type I'll have to open the diff and pull the "C" clips?
Any tips before I dig in? Thanks.

Hello edpdx50, the '90s era RMs all used the Chevy 8.5 10 bolt, as such they are all "C" clip axles. They were also very reliable and serviceable, in use since 1971 in cars and half ton pick-ups.
Pull the cover off and very carefully remove the threaded pin that retains the cross shaft, take care that the shaft does not fall out, carefully remove the cross-shaft without disturbing the position of the spider gears, push the axle shafts in from the wheel ends softly and the clips appear, remove them with a pencil style magnet.
The axle shafts can then be removed and inspected. The axle seals could (should) be replaced at this time, and the bearings inspected. Clean the sump well, and you are ready for fresh fluid and gasket.

Just a follow up. Thanks for the advice. I found that the bad wheel bearing (passenger side) had frozen solid to the shaft - not allowing me to push the axle shaft to center in order to reach the c clip. Once I realized a bigger hammer was needed, it was free and work continued.
