Why does my Buick take a couple seconds to go in to gear?

I have a 2010 Buick LaCrosse cxl and when I go to put it in drive it takes like 5 seconds to go into gear what do y'all think the problem is?
Fluid looks good and is at the correct amount.
And shifts very good after in gear.

If the transmission fluid level is correct and looks clean, you need to have the fluid filter checked. If that gets filled up with crud, then that causes the fluid pressure some extra seconds to come up to normal so that it will operate normally. The good news is that it is still better than having to do a whole transmission tear-down. The bad news is that there are many tiny spots where there could still be crud, so the filter is not the only possible point of problem.

Im having the same issue NTT99. Did you do the change as Bobby49 suggested? Just wondered if it helped. I have 42,000 on my 2013 Lacrosse.

Did you ever change the fluid? Old fluid can cause shifting issues due to diminished friction modifiers and lubrication.
You could also have a bad shift solenoid in the transmission valve body.

The filter replacement in our 6T70(V6) or 6T40/45(4 banger) transmission requires the transmission case to be opened, so the filter is usually only changed when the transmission is rebuilt.

Good replies, is it possibly a shift/programming issue whereas once engaged no further shift trouble?

That's the pressure control solenoid at fault. Needs a new one or a tuning recalibration.
