The Enclave is a Buick SUV in the full-size luxury class. It's been available since May of 2007 as a 2008 model. The Enclave was first seen at the 2006 NAIAS (North American International Auto Show / aka Detroit Auto Show) as a concept vehicle - but the first hint of this new Crossover SUV came at the NAIAS in 2003 as the Buick Centieme concept.

The Buick Enclave replaced all of Buick's non-car based vehicles:
1. The minivan-based Rendezvous midsize crossover SUV
2. The truck-based Rainier midsize SUV
3. The Terrazzo minivan

As of February 2014, the 2014 Enclave was the top-ranked Affordable Midsize SUV in U.S. News & World Report's rankings.

The Buick Enclave comes standard with seating for seven people. A second row bench seat is available as an option instead of the two standard captain chairs which allow for seating for up to eight people. the Enclave is available with either front wheel drive or all wheel drive.

The Enclave initially came with a 275 horsepower 3.6 liter "High Feature" V6 engine connected to a six speed automatic transmission. Unfortunately, it was often criticized for its 6-speed transmission - which was "hesitant to downshift." For the 2009 model, a 3.6 liter V6 Direct Injection Spark Ignition VVT with 286 horsepower and 255 foot pounds of torque became standard - and is regarded as more competent with more abundant torque. This new engine offered a broader torque curve and brought fuel economy to 17/24 miles per gallon for front wheel drive models and 16/22 miles per gallon for all wheel drive models. Production of the Enclave began on April 11th, 2007 with the first vehicles reaching lucky dealers by the end of the month. The Enclave debuted with a sticker price starting at $32,790.

The 2012 Buick Enclave still has the 3.6 liter V6 and 6-Speed Automatic transmission, but is now rated at 288 horsepower with 270 foot pounds of torque.

The Enclave has exceptionally large interior volume and is often praised for the quality of it's interior and for being one of the quietest vehicles available in America.

General Motors refreshed the 2013 Enclave and unveiled it on April 3rd, 2012. This new Enclave featured updated exterior styling which includes a new chrome waterfall grille and xenon headlights with LED running lights making the front end quite expensive looking. In the rear, new LED taillights make the cut. On the inside you get a redesigned dashboard with more soft-touch materials than before, luxurious wood and chrome accents, touchscreen IntelliLink infotainment display and blue ambient lighting. If safety is your concern, Buick has you covered with seven standard airbags, including an industry-first front center airbag, and available blind-spot monitoring.
