For owners of the Lucerne CXS or Super trim lines, how fast does your model go from 0-60 mph, or 0-90 kmh?

Well, King Buick, you must be addressing the wrong crowd for 0-60 MPH times.

My CXL goes from 0-60 MPH "very comfortably"!

Sal- I never understood all the emphasis on "performance" that car manufacturers place on luxury car's today. As I've posted previously on this and on other Forums, I've purchased full size luxury sedans since 1985 with the goal of making my driving experience as comfortable as sitting on my living-room couch. I traded performance for comfort and smooth ride. Where I reside, near a large city, all the roads I travel are straight, and are peppered with police cars with cops on a mission to generate revenue through traffic law enforcement. I can hardly approach 70 MPH on an interstate near my city of Cleveland, Ohio without attracting the unwanted attention of the police! If I had a sports-oriented performance car, I'd never be able to know "what kind of performance" the car was capable of, anyway. Not where I drive.

I have a Cadillac DTS not a Lucerne, but it's very similar to the V8 Lucerne.
It has the Northstar V8... It has been "TUNED" to increase the performance a little.
My best 0 to 60 has been 6.1 seconds.
Best time thru the 1/4 mile was 15.2...but it was a really hot day (95+ F) I had over 3/4 tank of gas and about 100 pounds of stuff in the trunk.

Bill. BOY do I hear you about the cops. It's ridiculous that so much emphasis has been put on making criminals out of drivers. And what's even more unfair is how cops speed everywhere they go. I blogged about this once:
http://blogofnothing.com/2010/07/14/why-is-it-so-difficult-for-police-officers-to-lead-by-example/

Otherwise, I love big, soft, cushy luxury cars. One of my all time favorites was a 1995 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. Like the Buick Roadmaster, it was an amazing vehicle. The thing is - I need power as well. I won't buy a car anymore unless it has acceptable performance. So knowing the 0-60 times are important to me. And, I certainly want to make sure I can outperform the idiot in the lane next to me who doesn't want me to get over.

I turn on my signal, he speeds up, I thrust 500 feet ahead of him before he knows what the F! happened. If I wanted to take orders, especially from people I don't know, I'd work at Burger King. ๐Ÿ˜› But that's just me...

Jim.. How the HHEECCKK did you get a 6.1 out of a Cadillac DTS?! That's amazing! Better than the ETC/STS that used to get 6.6. What did you do?

Only got 6.1 out of it one time... most of the time, it is 6.3 to 6.6...
It has such a problem with wheelspin... it is very difficult to get a good "HARD" launch off the line from a dead stop.

I use a program called EFILive...
You can plug into the car with your laptop and change just about any parameter you want to change.
Timing, RPM limiter, top speed limiter, shift firmness, shift "QUICKNESS", remove all the nannies that GM put on it...etc..etc

Dunno....I think the nannies are there to protect you from a costly engine or tranny job. Maybe you should have bought a Camaro or a 'vette.๐Ÿ™‚

I heard of that. Very interesting.

I'm sure if you abuse it all the time, it'll cause problems. A Camaro or Vette probably wouldn't do it for Jim. Maybe a C63 AMG, though. ๐Ÿ˜› But is it worth all the extra money?

Jim- Not aware of the EFILive, I searched for info, and only came up with applications for diesel trucks. Can you point me to a website?

I don't like nannies.... I am not a baby any more and I don't need the Govt or GM telling me how I can drive my car and putting artificial limits on what it is capable of doing.

If I break it... I will fix it... ๐Ÿ™‚
As of right now, it has over 107,000 miles on it and I ain't broke it yet.

I have had 'vettes (loved them) but don't like Camaro's. ๐Ÿ™‚
A 'vette is not really a very good road trip car, after you get older and take a lot of "STUFF" with you.

As I got older, I like the quietness and smoothness of the Buick and Cadillac.
But I "DIDN'T" like the nannies... so I took 'em off... ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

Problem solved....๐Ÿ˜€

I don't think you would get rid of my nanny. ๐Ÿ˜€

I believe the stock 0-60 time for the CXS
0-60 mph 6.9 Quarter mile 15.1

my previous car was a 1999 300m
0-60 mph 7.6 Quarter mile 15.7

I have also seen quotes in the 7.1 second range. for the CXS. Both cars are pretty close. The Buick has more power, but at the same time is heavier than the 300m. The big killer on the 300m is the differential they tucked in there so the power could make a right turn in the engine compartment.

The Buick has more torque and low end growl, the 300m is more of a higher revving car. Getting on the highway or passing, I love how the Buick just wants to keep pulling and accelerating.

I know what you mean... It acts like it just wants to keep pulling forever... ๐Ÿ™‚
My problem with 0-60 times and running it thru the 1/4 mile track is WHEELSPIN... ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™
It is very difficult to launch it really hard because the wheels spin too much.
You lose a lot of time in the first couple of car lengths.

Jim- Have you tried different tires? If so, what did you find?

I have ran Bridgestone Turenze E400 and Yokohama Advan S4.
The Yoko's are rated as being pretty sticky... but they are nor enough.
They are 245X45X18...

I have thought of getting some drag radials... but I don't want to twist anything into....๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚
