Status Update

I dropped the car off today at Magnaflow's R&D facility. Sorry for the bad pic quality, I only had my phone.

I went through the group's expectations with the Product Manager:

• Price

• Sound

• Components

- He agrees that the Borla price appears steep and will work will on coming up with some hopefully attractive pricing.

- I stressed that we did not necessarily want loud as in raspy fart pipes but a nice powerful sound with as much low end rumble (as much as possible given our small engines).

- 3 inch stainless tubes, dual exhausts with oval chrome tips were discussed.

They should have the car back to me sometime next week and post up clips as well. No guarantees but he figures gains may be as high as 12 - 15hps. They have a dyno on-site so we'll know for sure in a few days.

First off, I didn't even realize that was a Regal at first!!! The Opel grill really makes it look like a different car. And second, thanks for offering up your car. That's awesome!!

@ Drewm26 - No, not out of this deal. They are putting something together based on my car. For them to design something for the GS, they will need someone to pony up their car.

@ FatherDeth - First time I saw a picture of the Insignia, I knew I had to have the grill. I don't care for the bulbous Buick grill. The Insignia grill really cleans up the front end.

I'm afraid not. The Opel badge is not removable and is in fact, molded into the grill.

If you don't like the Opel badge, you can get the UK version by Vauxhall. Same grille but with a Griffin instead of lightning bolt.

Quick update.

I'm not sure what happen but I've seem to have lost communications with Magnaflow. The last messages to me on Thursday said the car would be ready Friday afternoon. My message to them yesterday and phone call this morning were not returned.

I'm sure there is an explanation but it seems very unprofessional to not keep me informed. I'll call them again Monday. 😡

I finally heard from them today. Apparently the car was ready since last Thursday evening but the message never got to me. Even though I'm in a loaner, I don't want to leave the car sitting there all week. I'll have to take a day off during the week to go get it. I guess this comes with being a project car.

I was disappointed with how the exhaust note sounds in the videos. I honestly think my setup sounds better.

I'm liking it, but then again I wanted something just a bit more "pronounced" than the stock note without gettting too ricey. Be nice to see some in cabin videos with the windows up and down cruising and at WOT.

Trust me guys maybe not for everyone but if you want a stronger note just empty out the catalic you will seen it will be louder and propably with the magnaflow settup it should be nice.

I tryed alot of things so far and now my regal is straight pipe with a empty cat. I kept it 2.25 pipe out to the back with magnaflow y pipe 2.5 to two 2.25 out with oval ractive tips.

Now i find its a little loud, so i thought maybe to put borla xr1 after the flange under the car. Any opinion please thanks

I have to agree with GTO on this one. Can't hear much difference from stock on that video. Going back to GTO's video it does sounds better. Maybe goobee will post his own video later.
