The trunk on my 2011 Buick Lacrosse opens by itself. If I lock the car, it doesn't, but if I leave it unlocked in my driveway it sometimes does. This has caused my battery to die and have to be replaced and the inside of my trunk has gotten wet due to the weather. I am very unhappy and have been to the dealer about this. They are not taking the issue seriously and just want to tell me that my car is "pulling codes" and then when I tell them I don't want to pay for all of them these codes mysteriously "clear". Anyone had this trunk issue and how did you resolve it?😡

This has been a common problem. Here is a long-running thread on the topic.

Many of us have gotten a two-shot relay installed under warranty and that makes the trunk less likely to open, but others have also had to have the switch pad on the trunk replaced as well. I haven't done that yet, but I may yet need to.

Good luck.

Hi tnangle,

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing this concern with the trunk on your Lacrosse. I realize that you're looking for the opinion's of other owners, however, I would be more than happy to provide an additional layer of assistance. What I can do is reach out to the Customer Experience Manager at another certified dealership in your area for a second opinion. If you would be interested in this, please send me a private message with your VIN, mileage and contact information. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Best,

Ashley R.

Yes - I had read about this and never had an issue, and then all of a sudden on my 2012, the trunk would frequently open by itself when parked, and would not open when the touch pad was pressed. The dealer happily and quickly replaced both the touch pad and the relay and never a problem since

I don't know what the fob on the 2011 looks like compared to the 1st-gen (mine is 2007), but I used to have the problem of the trunk and/or panic alarm going off inadvertantly when the button were only lightly pushed; such as fumbling in my pocket, or even when holding in my hand. I finally got tired of it and wrapped several layers of clear cellophane tape around the fob to cover both of these buttons (I left the lock/unlock alone), and now no problems. Requires a slightly firmer push to open the trunk, no delay. I'm ok with that. Suggest you try the same.

Best Regards,
-Raj
