Buick Rendezvous 2002 with AWD DISABLE light and Anti-Lock Brake light on.?

Just replaced my ABS Module the beeping is no longer going off but the low pressure tire sensor and the lights for abs traction control are still on.

Replaced it with one from a junk yard could not afford a brand new one, hope nothing is wrong with this one, got a 90 warranty.

did you have the module programmed to the VIN of your vehicle? May not work properly without the programming.

also check all sensor harnesses at the wheels, as well as the connector (c305) just under and behind the drivers seat.

Harness looks good, Program the Module? Do you have a link in here to refer to? Can I program it my self? Should that have been done before installing it? Did I hurt the module by not programing it?

Thank you so much for your speedy reply.

This issue really should be a dealer fixed recall.

My harness was bad inside the wire protector about half between the wheel hub and tranny, kinda like in the midlle of the control arm..... I guess it got stretchedor something.

They have the harness at advance auto.... with online coupon is a good deal.

Check to see if one of the connectors for any of the wheel sensors are loose or unplugged or show signs of ccorrosion. These connectors are directly behind the wheel hub. Also you could take a meter to each one and read the ohms. They should all be the same. The 1 that's different is the culprit. By the way, I don't have one of those scanners and that's the way iI did it. I have had to replace all the hubs on mine.

I have a 2002 Buick Rendezvous and recently it began having issues with the brakes. It started with the anti-lock brakes kicking on for no reason. This began to become a more regular occurrence. Now the after driving for a few minutes, the "AWD (all wheel drive) Disable" dummy light comes on as well as a separate "Anti-Lock Brakes" light.

This has only been happening for about two weeks. Does anyone know what the problem is or might be and about how much I should expect to pay to fix the problem. Thanks for your help.
I’m having a similar issue. AWD disable & antilock brake lights always on & now the red brake warning light comes on & the chime dings constantly. It used to clear if I shut off key for a while but now it’s almost always on as if the emergency brake is on ( it isnt). I did need brakes so I had the rotors & pads done on all four. Still all three lights & chiming. Then we found bad bushings in the rear so I replaced both rear knuckle bushings which are a special order part because they are aluminum. You can’t simply press in new bushings since aluminum cant be heated. You have to replace the entire knuckle at $295 each. I got lucky & found them on sale at a dealership in Connecticut ( I’m in Jersey) for $84 each plus shipping so $ 106 each was still two for less than one!! But I talked to others that had to have theirs shipped from Canada since they are so hard to find in the USA. But getting back to the issue - the lights & chime are still on. Next stop to dealer to check if BCM is bad. If so BCM is vehicle specific & must be flashed or programmed by dealer only. You take a chance buying them used because some can only be programmed once so they cant be reprogrammed to a second car. Best off paying the higher price for a new one & the cheapest price I found so far was $171. Then add labor & programming fees & its most likely well over $500 for this job. Some say its easily accessed under the passenger seat but others say its in the consol under the radio. Leave it to Buick to make it a hard to access job. Even the rear brake lightbulbs are a pain to replace!! I love my Rendezvous but its a hard fix.

I Had This Problem Happen About 3 Weeks Ago! I Was Driving And All A Sudden The Anti Break And AWD Lights came on. I took it to the shop and they said I needed a new wheel bearing which cost $390 Installed! I had them do it And The Warning Lights Been Out Ever Since!! (Knock On Wood)

My 2002 did this, AWD Disable and ABS light on, I used the scanner at Oreillys, sais right front wheel sensor circuit open, put it up on ramps, unplugged rf wheel sensor, checked between the 2 pins for continuity, none, checked the left and it had continuity between the 2 pins, however I don't remember how many ohms but that told me there was a good chance of a broken wire going to the right on as it had none. Pulled the clips open and removed the wiring back to the control arm pivit point and when I started taking the plastic conduit off the wiring the broken wire was about 3 inches from the plug going to the wheel speed sensor, right where the wires bend when the wheel is steered. Someone had spliced it there once before but it broke a couple inches farther back this time and had another spot ready to break also. I had already purchased the pigtail with the plug on e-bay ($14.29/pair) hoping it was all it was, I spliced it in about 2 foot back along the subframe so the splice wasn't at a movement point and secured it with some zip ties. 2Pcs For Pontiac GM Buick ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Wire Harness Plug #10340314 NEW | eBay

Use the scanner at O'reillys it may tell you if a wheel speed sensor circuit is open, mine was right front, followed the vehicle side wires from that wheel and they were broke about 6 inches back from turning the wheels. Bought the harness off e-bay and spliced it in far enough back where it don't flex at the splice when turning.

I had the same problem with my '03. The brakes would chatter until the AWD DISABLE and the ABS lights came on. I had it scanned at a Buick dealer - for $70 - and it came up as the driver's side front wheel speed sensor. I had it replaced - you have to buy the whole hub for $200 or so - and it only fixed the problem for a couple of weeks. The whole process started again, but much more frequently. Again, I paid to have it scanned and it threw out the same code. The culprit was the wiring harness to the sensor. I had both front harnesses replaced - for $80 a piece with a separate $7 connector for each - and that solved the problem. I was told this is common on the Rendezvous. Moisture seeps in or they even get torn. But i was told repeatedly to have the codes cleared after the repair. If not, the computer may not monitor them correctly. So far so good. The only other problem that I have is that mine seems to eat back tires. Hope this helps everyone.

Which harness?

The most common problem for the Aztek/Rendezvous is the C305 harness that passes thru the body, from inside the cab, to the outside. It is located just behind the drivers seat. It was not sealed, at all, from the factory, if you live in a high corrosion state, it will eat thru the wiring, and cause issues with the AWD system, traction control, ABS, fuel system, and dash lights. Other common issues for the AWD system is the Diff Actuator, and wheel bearings. You have to pull the drivers seat, and cut the harness plug out 1 wire at a time, and hard wire (solder, heat shrink, dialectical grease, and electrical tape).

In very rare occasions, the rear diff goes bad internally. I had this luxury. I bought a used diff that had clean fluid, and installed it. No more AWD disable lights, and my AWD works for the first time in 12 years. The dealer, and other shops worked on this problem for years, and were never able to figure it out.

Mine broke where the wires bend from turning the front wheels. Bought the pigtail that plugs into wheel connector from e-bay and spliced it in back away from any bending. Total cost to fix, $7. I used the scanner at Oreilly for free.

Has anyone figured this issue out yet? I'm curious...We are having the same problem. Both the AWD Disable and Anti Lock lights are on.😕
I have found that one of the wheel speed sensors is not communicationg with the computer, thus turning off the ABS and also disabling AWD

Usually the wheel speed sensors stop communicating.

The harness from the speed sensor breaks and throws the code, as far as the back tires wearing, the car has to have a 4wheel alignment or you will buy lots of tires. I recommend the lifetime alignment so you don't have to pay every 10,000 miles to have it done. Lifetime will get it fixed repeatedly for free from then on.
