I'm sure I'll find this out myself in the coming days/weeks as I tinker, but I thought I'd ask what size speakers are OEM in the front doors and back deck of the RM sedan.

I know that there is a mid/woofer in the lower front doors, and a mid/tweeter up top in the front doors as well.

I have no idea what is in the back deck, but in all of my old full-size GM sedans, they were 6x9. Is this true for the RM sedan?

Thanks
Al

for my 92 rms limited it was 4x6" in the front doors and 6x9" for the rear deck but i'm pretty sure for the newer ones (93 and up maybe not sure really) the fronts were changed to the 61/2" round ones

Based on my limited(one day's worth) of research, it looks like my 95 has 6x9 out back in the rear deck, which would be typical.

It also has what everyone seems to indicate is a 6.5" in the lower front door. But what I'm particularly interested in, is what size is the little speaker in the front door handle bezel on the later models. GM loved 3.5 inch speakers for dash applications for years, so I wonder if it is a 3.5 or 4 inch full-range, or just a tweeter. It sounds like a full range speaker.

I guess I'll find out for certain once I get into the door panel, but am just starting to research.

If it is a 3.5 inch, Sony used to make an awesome little 2 way 3.5 inch speaker that made huge differences in stock applications.

Welcome aboard. A little warning, there is no need to make 1000s of different posts for your questions. Please keep the forum neat 🙂

rears are 6x9s. Fronts are oversized 6.5" aka 6.75" The tweeters in the door bezels are plastic welded in place and are NOT fun to remove. I forget the size, but IIRc they're like 2" or close.

Thanks for the answers and feedback Matt. It's been very helpful.

I understand and sympathize about the number of posts, as I have moderated a board or two myself 😀 But on the other hand, I also find that when folks go back and search for answers, it's sometimes is helpful to have the questions broken out by individual posts so the subject identifies the discussion. If I had put all those questions in one post, that might diminish the following answer's value as folks try to search for the same topic.

I just had some time on my hands, and one question came after another as I read more 🙄 Sorry for the clutter, but they'll disappear into the background over a few days fortunately.

Cheers,
Al

Yup, 6x9s are what I have in my 95 RMW and its the same up front for the doors.

The stock paper rears aren't very good im afraid, in my opinion pretty much ANYTHING aftermarket will sound better just hooked up.

I am going to be putting in new speakers soon, along with a double din unit (prolly the pioneer one, model no escapes me) rigged up so that the USB cable comes out thru the change tray thingy, and of course bluetooth for the cell phone!! 😀

Oh, if you ARE changing the speakers out, don't forget to put some dynamat or second skin (Skin is superior IMHO) on the metal area behind the speaker, it helps alot.

happy, uhh.. 'speakering'?🙂

Al no worries. I was kind of in a grumpy mood when I was on the other day as I haven't had power since Firday Night 🙂 The 80+ degree house temps got to me 🙂

Damn man thank you for the info. I have a 94 roadmaster and I just ordered two sets of 6/9$ subwoofers for it. I can't wait for them to get here
