Sight and Sound package.

IOB, IO5, IO6 are red needles.
IOR, IOS, IOT are white needles.
That is why you won't have 2019 IOB, or IO5 & IO6.
IO5 and IO6 are available in white needle according to the parts diagrams. But regardless, the part numbers are the same for either.

You might be on to something. I did a little experiment and was disappointed with the results.

Here's what I did:
- Set volume to ~40% (louder than I normally listen)
- Played Ludacris: How Low Remix
- Door speakers played as expected, some base, and even shook the door cards, but not deep base (as expected). Only the sub can hit the very low stuff.
- Open hatch, lift floor and listen closely to sub. It was on and playing but was very soft, almost muted. No deep or hard hits.
- Went into settings and turned the bass up almost all the way.
- System boosted the bass through other speakers, but no noticeable difference form the sub.

I like testing with that song because there are sections that hit the bass at a higher frequency then slide down to very low frequency. It lets me hear how consistent the base is across the low frequency range. In my car, during that slide, the note just gets softer and softer as the frequency goes down, and I can't hear it at all when it gets to the bottom.

About me: I don't consider myself a true audiophile, but I do appreciate good quality. My home system is a full Paradigm surround setup (not little bookshelves either) pushed by a Marantz.

UPDATE:

When I was at the dealer getting my oil change and software updates, we spent a little time looking at the sound system. We listened to a couple different songs, turning the sub up and down with hatch open and floor raised to expose the sub. In the end, we agreed that the system seemed to be functioning as design/intended. Here are the non-scientific findings.

- In music of most genres, the system sounds reasonably good. Others have pointed out some of the weaknesses.
- Much of the "punch" from most of the bass is coming form the doors, but their frequency response is limited.
- The sub is adding some depth, but is not powerful.
- The sub is simply not capable of hitting some low notes, at any volume. These are notes that my home system, and even reasonably good headphones can hit. Genres such as country, standards, and even most pop don't typically have notes that low. I am not talking about

Here is one song I use to expose this weakness. An example of the notes missing are at :33 and :34

I would love to fill in some of that deep base, but I am simply not willing to put alot of money into it, and I am not willing to modify the interior of the car.

Nice summary. I too have noticed that even when cranking the bass on the equalizer doesn't result in much more kick from the subwoofer. I suspect the best option would be an aftermarket sub in place of the stock one, but I don't know what can be done without an amp.

Have you sat in another TourX to see what it should sound like? I still firmly believe you dont have a fully functioning system. I can FEEL the bass from the sub when there are good bass notes and I only have mine turned up 2/3 of the way for the bass EQ.

As another note, there are simple and relatively cheap ways to add some nice bass. The "premium" system in the Civic sorely lacked in bass and I added a little powered sub that fit under the hatch cover. It also has a bass control knob for better/individual adjustment from the main HU. If you're interested, I bought the Kicker Hideaway.

If I get the opportunity, I would do a side-by-side with another S&S Regal playing the same audio file to see if there is a difference.

My rental car yesterday was a Chrysler 300S. I decided to play that same track and turn it up to see how it responded. I will say, that 300S hit that low note. It may not have hit like a $$$$ system, but it hit it, and damn if it didn't shake the car hard trying to hit it. You can tell the whole tuning of that car is different, but it handles the deep note better than ours.

Yes, that sounds like a good route to go. That way you can have a direct comparison to what it should sound like and take out the guesswork. It sounds like the tech that looked at your car was just saying "it works" based on the fact that audio is being produced and nothing is blown. You have the factory nav, right?

At the dealership, I had the head of the shop (my best man), and the head of sales (his brother) with me listening.

I do have factory nav, Bose, etc

Lol that's my point though... It could be the CEO of Bose there, but without having an example of what sound should be produced, it's anyone's guess really. Every model of car is different, so they could have just heard the shitty Encore system and been drawing on that, resulting in their convincing that everything is fine. Not saying that was the case, just saying.

Wonder if any relatively close dealers have any to test out, if no local forum members are close?

I did a little test to see if you can replicate and get the same results. I find “How Low” to be a song that’s rather lacking in punchy bass, not providing a good starting point. For all the audio system installs I’ve done, I always use “Elevator” by Flo Rida. It has a HUGE bass section in a few spots, around about 30 seconds in and 1:50 in.

To try and get you to achieve the same results easily, I did such: Set bass to max. Play the song though BT as your source. Then, turn up the volume so that the orange bar is in the middle of the pause icon. The bass is so loud, you can hear a couple things I have ok the back seat vibrating pretty good, as well as the pen and change moving around. If you don’t get similar results, I’d say something is wrong with your sub/amp.

I can't figure out how to get a video to post in my reply, so sorry in advance for the icloud video link.

It's very frustrating to work on these cars when adding aftermarket amplifier systems. Speakers need to be rerouted from each door, and rerun the setup from the amps bacterial to each component and tweeters. A big headache. They did a great job of hiding the stock premium amplifier, making it virtually impossible to access with out pulling apart the vehicle.

If you have the Bose system, you can buy an integration kit from PAC or Axxess, which will give you 6-channels of RCA outputs and a DSP. I bought an Axxess kit and then installed an Audison DSP/Amp to power the doors and center speakers and a Rockford Fosgate amp that powers two 10” Kicker subs.
