Has anyone replace their Tourx wheels?

Funny, I can say the same thing about most cars in this thread with their cheap aftermarket Chinese 18" wheels. With that said, 21's are a bit extreme for me.
I like the wheels, but prob would look better with a non flat colored car, and maybe white.

I resemble that.
My wheels actually were inexpensive but not cheap as in junk, decent quality and lighter than OEM.
Note that Chan built a 1000 bed hospital in a bit more than 3 weeks. Even though their goal was 11 days, that is rather remarkable. (I wonder how it would stand up in an earthquake?)

This isn't directed at anyone specifically...

As wheels get bigger, sidewalls get smaller. As that ratio changes, it makes the fender gap stand out more and more. To resolve this, the car must be lowered and stiffened to compensate. Many people do it cheaply leading to poor results (ride quality, and yes poor handling), but it could be done well (have done it with custom suspensions).

For my daily commuter in the great white north of snow and terrible roads making runs to Menards, that big wheel, low profile stiff ride just makes no sense.

Just because a car looks nice when parked doesn't mean I would want to live with it that way.

Not sure if this has been posted already, but I think the German company "BITTER" has done the best job so far in mod'ing the "TourX".

Google "Opel Insignia Sports Tourer – Edition Bitter" for some great pics.

Has anyone actually put gs wheels on a cladded TourX? I haven't seen one yet

Here it is with the 245/35r20 on 20x9 et27. On my scale, I gained less than 2lbs per corner.

Looks great! I just ordered a set of wheels that are 20x8.5 ET25, and was worried about rubbing. I didn’t choose tires yet, so I might go 235 to play it safe. Do you have any rubbing on tight turns or bumps? Thanks in advance.

I have 245 40 20 on a 20x8.5 +28. I have a slight bit of rubbing at some turning points but not over bumps or anything. I may do 245 35 20 next time but it doesn't rub enough to bother me. And provides a nice ride.

New owner of a TourX and wondering if anyone has experience with 255/40 tires on 20” rims. They are 2.9% bigger in diameter than the original wheels (692mm vs. 712mm diameter) and looking at the front there might not be enough clearance to the strut. I am thinking about 20x9 wheels with a 38mm backspacing.

I think strut clearance would be too close for comfort or actual interference.

I rub a bit on 245 40 on a 20x8.5 +28. My wheel inside is REALLY close to the strut so I wouldn't advise a 255.

Voice of reason, finally. I don't understand the obsession with oversized wheels. They add weight, they cost money, they slow down acceleration, they require expensive tires, they are easier to damage, new tires would be easier to blow when riding over potholes due to low sidewall, big wheels also attract bros that want to steal them if you live in/near certain "urban" areas. I would rather downsize to 17" to add comfort and lessen the rotational weight.

Beauty of the world. You can do what you want with your own car. I moved to 20s and the tires are BARELY more expensive. And I noticed very little difference in comfort. Just gotta get the right tire size, not rubber bands. And I am a sucker for the cosmetics. 20s on this car do not look overly huge. 18s look small to me. So I got rid of them.

Yeah, it's all for the looks, that's what I never understand. I go for the comfort. I could literally drive a box on wheels, as long as it is comfortable and enjoyable inside, I am all set. Big wheels don't resonate with me because it is something you are not seeing and not enjoying when you drive the car, since they add no extra comfort and no extra handling. So it is supposed to be "the looks" you show off to other people or enjoy looking at yourself when your car is parked, both are useless to me. Not meant to be negative in any way, I just don't get it.

Big wheels don't work for every car. On my Miata, I just went for wider 17s.

But you're acting like 20s on this car is an absurdly big wheel. These cars overseas and the cascada and others now come with 20s stock. Which means 20s can still ride comfort since they come stock and people don't complain. Now when you get to donk levels, 22+, I don't get it. But I also understand different strokes for different folks. I drive a Miata and a mustang also. Lots of people wouldn't be caught dead in either. If you wanna stay with 18s or 17s, that's fine. I personally love looking at my car when I walk up to it, the compliments it gets, because to me 20" is normal for this car, not huge. The stock wheels looked like my car skipped leg days .

The OE wheels look much better than anything that has two bolt patterns. I like the style of the wheel but empty lug holes just ruins it. It’s a cheap way out for the manufacturer.

do you happen to know where it rubs? My wheels are 20x8.5 +25, and I still haven’t bought tires. Might try what you got if you’re rubbing inside, but I’ll definitely need to go more conservative if you’re rubbing on the outside. Thanks in advance!
