Buick Ownership
Enclave 2018
2018 Buick Enclave. Intermittently opening on its own when car is off. In garage over night, while I’m in a store, etc. brought to Buick twice with no result. First time they shut off the foot sensor, now they’ve completely shut off the button on the door.

Does it only happen if you have opened the lift gate during the day?

The fob remote has a supposed 1000' range. Where do you keep it? Is it possible that the liftgate button is getting activated by accident? I realize that it takes two button presses to activate it but seems like the dealer is out of ideas.

in my purse where I’ve kept it for years. I don’t think that’s the reason when it was sitting there untounched for days in my garage, because the key stays in the purse in the car there. I don’t think that’s the case as well when I was in the mall - it would’ve been further than 1000feet!

There are at least 10 references to the tailgate for the 2018 Enclave in the technical service bulletins.
Did the dealer read the technical service bulletins?
The dealer told me I’m the “first person in Buick history this has ever happened to”. They had it for days waiting to hear back from Buick technical service on a solution and got nothing. How do I get a copy of the technical service bulletins?!

Oh and I will say they did reference some of them not fully closing, but it was on previous years models, and not opening on their own.

They are on the NHTSA web site but they dont list the details within the TSB, just the subject.
Call Buick Customer service.

Is the fob required to use the car or is there a key? If not required I'd remove the battery a few days or week and just use the key, but I'm not sure this is possible in most newer vehicles. If this were able to be done though and no issues presented during that time, you could narrow it down to the fob itself likely being the issue. Aren't there also phone apps that are able to control these things remotely? Kind of worrying how vulnerable some newer cars may potentially be.

You may want to have them check the liftgate switch for water, if it wasn't already done. This has been the problem on other Enclaves where the liftgate has been intermittently opening.

I will give that a try.
I was just in a theme park last weekend and it opened while I was gone the whole day. This is getting crazy, especially if I have things in my car I don’t want stolen! (It’s never happened while driving, but can you imagine?) this is also where I keep my dogs at times (when it’s not hot) do that is a huge concern for me.

This is happening to us. Did you get it resolved?

This has been happening to us also. They changed the touch pad a year ago when this was happening and now it’s doing it again

I have a 2020 and it’s happening to the vehicle now. Any fix?
