I also have the same problem on my 2021. It seems as though nobody is taking responsibility to resolve this.

I purchased my 2021 Enclave in May 2021 and the liftgate opening on its own has been an ongoing issue. It’s been at the dealer 3x ( about every 4-5 months) they’ve replaced the switch under the license plate, sealed the switch saying it is corroded and replaced the kick switch as well. It’s opened multiple times when I am not even near my car or keys - in my driveway, at the golf course parking lot, my work parking lot ( yes the police came and thought someone broke into my car and then ran my plate to find me in my office building) and also while I was in the car with the car running in the bank drive thru!!! Nobody can resolve this and it should be a GM recall for sure. My car was at the dealer in November so HA I knew it was due to go crazy again at any moment… well My car is back at the dealer as of Saturday March 18 because I closed the liftgate using the button on the liftgate and it somehow possessed my back up camera to stay on causing my radio/ navigation to stop working because the camera wouldn’t shut off. I could not access radio /navigation from my steering wheel menu. I drive forward/ reversed and forward to see it it would clear and shut off. I shut the car off and on and the camera stayed on. I figured it would eventually kill my battery so I contacted the dealer from my car and found out the camera being locked “on” was also preventing my Bluetooth from working. I drive 45 minutes to the dealer while the backup camera was on the entire time I was driving (no I wasn’t driving in reverse) The 2021 enclave issue needs to be taken seriously by GM. I contacted GM the first time my liftgate opened on its own and they only suggested that I take it to a dealer for repair.

See my post BuickEnclaveMay2021 - I have an on going issue with the liftgate opening on its own and now it’s migrated to my backup camera staying on even while driving and when my vehicle is turned off. My car is currently back at the dealer as of March 18, 2023. They usually keep it a week trying to resolve the issue. And they keep my vehicle inside the shop because the liftgate has opened on its own while at the dealer!!!! So they know I’m not making this up - I wasn’t even there when it happened to them 2 different times when I dropped it off. As soon as I contact my salesman he has a courtesy car waiting for me. Dealer has been great working with me… GM not so much! This is a recall issue and more people need to contact GM.

I have the 2021 Enclave Premium. The lift gate has opened on its own while in the garage at least 3 times now. Scratched the gate really bad hitting the garage door. I then drove to fast food place last weekend, and while on and parked, lift gate unlatched. I did have the door switch off because of previous intermittent opening. Mad about the scratches and chipped paint. Any ideas of easy fix ???

I second the post about the sensor and connector getting water or moisture in it and could be shorting out the connection and opening the liftgate. One thing I would recommend to do if you have someone replace it or you do it yourself is to get some dielectric grease and put it in the connector. It won't hurt anything but it will prevent moisture from causing issues in a connector.

My wife is having the same problem with her 2021 Enclave. The rear lift gate started opening on its own about 6 months ago. It stopped after a few weeks and now the problem has returned. This has to be a common problem which Buick/ GMC should fix...

I recently bought a 2012 in march and I’ve had this issue since then .. to solve the issue I just turn off the tailgate from inside of the car and if I need to access the trunk I’ll just open it from the inside but you also have to lock it before you go on the truck because it will close on you, so I keep it locked at all times

Has anyone had the close button on the tailgate checked or the rear outside handle? Almost sounds like to me that the contacts could be going out or shorting if the front cab switch works and disables the tailgate from opening or opening it when needed.

2018 Buick Enclave. Intermittently opening on its own when car is off. In garage over night, while I’m in a store, etc. brought to Buick twice with no result. First time they shut off the foot sensor, now they’ve completely shut off the button on the door.

It doesn't matter if doors are locked or not. Key fobs can be laying flat on the counter and it occurs. Dealer denies ever hearing of this. Definitely a safety issue.

We have a 2023 and it is doing it. Does not matter if liftgate is powered or not. Frustrating.

Just peachy! I have a 23, so now I can hardly wait. And I park outside - even peachier. My pad switch in the outside rear is very hard to work already, but foot switch seems OK to this point.

I am bringing in my 2021 Enclave to the dealer tomorrow for the same Liftgate problem. It keeps opening up by itself even with the driver side door interior knob turned off. And the Liftgate back door button is not working so I cannot open the lift gate manually either.

If it doesn't open by itself when the car is locked, then it might not affect me, as the car automatically locks when I walk away. Not sure I know what you mean with the question mark at the end of your post. You have the foot switch in your 21, no?

The dealer told me I’m the “first person in Buick history this has ever happened to”. They had it for days waiting to hear back from Buick technical service on a solution and got nothing. How do I get a copy of the technical service bulletins?!

Nope mine is opening on vacation with full suitcases, several times overnight. Both key fobs put away gate closed, a few hours later gate open
