What is the purpose of supplying 12+ volts to a USB port.
Normal USB voltage is 5 volts.

It’s going to be 15 volts like the cigarette outlet just need to find a way so they shut off when the ignition is off,I have 4 fuse boxes altogether I see that there are a couple of spots that have no power unless car is on,have them marked in picture, can I add a port to 11 and one to 12 with piggy back fuse or or do I have to find one that are equally the same volt for the fuse and can I put one on the sunroof fuse or will it mess with it?

anything on ACC ACCESSORY or RAP would allow 10 minutes of use after key off. All cig lighters should be hot all times in the park avenue.

if you want key off, you could wire a relay off a tap for the 20-25 amp circuit powering the potential cd changer. its a orange with black stripe. maybe is 10amp. It should be unfused when no car phone or cd changer equipped

if it was a hot wire and i misremembered, hmm you just need a reear wire or fuse thats key on. if you wanna use an acessory item, it willpower for 10 minutes or batery run down which ever first.

also, avoid wiring on the door circuits, that is not a good idea generally. the rear door modules may be key on but they are hot all times i think

the RFA/RDO fuse in rear box is 10 amp i wouldnt power off it, but it directly feeds radio. use to power a relay then a power wire from a all time hot source for its power distribution to the relay which if you dont have a cd changer there ya go its in the trunk on the harness for it but you could use a fuse tap and just start in the box

so I can just connect to USB ports to the cigarette outlet?Just worried they will drain the battery since they light up

Where are you getting 15 volts from and what is the USB going to be used for?

The usb will used for when people need to charge their phones or what ever else,15amp I meant the two cigarette ports have 15 amp fuses.

I meant 15 amps, they’ll be used for charging phone and stuff
A normal USB port is 5 volts for charging.
How are you reducing the voltage?

The aftermarket USB ports 12V are no different than plugging into a cigarette adapter so not sure what the 5V concern is.

The cheap Chinese unit will under the 12 volt to 5 volt for the accessory. The concern is actually with the wiring. So he has currently the blocks in place of the original wiring for the socketa(a plastic clamp one on the end and then the center wire is held at a stand-off from the body of the 12 volt plug. In my opinion, a 12 volt plug would be better to keep there and then make the spot for ashtray a new face for the ports.
do check your wiring is okay to handle two devices at 3.2 Amps. The the original wiring was prob eh for rhw one slow port and the One good port. I only say something because the wiring bias a door pass through and it was almost operator a single cig lighter. Not even. The same amponcwa

anyway, you are getting cig lighter feed from some maxi fuses then I believe there are relays on the box in the back for the accessory power needs and the key on power and the hot all time powe. Then into the appropriate fuse for the intended otherwise I will really recommend still properly getting Rap accessory power for this task in saying this as a 23 year old white girl

I spent a lot of time with a now ex in the back seat and we played a lot of music, charged phones, etc from rhw ports on door. And rap is just more convenient for these kind of purpses trust me
Plus I do believe finding rhw sourced

have one plugged in to my front ashtray lighter socket which has a green light on it all the time and has not run battery down!

A little over thinking possibly on something simple. The OP wanted to change out the lighter and turn off the USB port with the ignition. This is just cutting the + on the original and rewiring to a ignition off source in the fuse box. A cleaner method is to run two new wires to the USB, ground to the door and positive run to the fuse box and tapped into a ignition off fuse, fused appropriately for the USB.

I stated the fuse for the ce changer which is CD/PHO I believe is about 20ampcircuot which is always bussed and may or may not have a fuse in it. It’s for the optional changer which all the cars have the harness and the phone is very rare and worthless option now anyway lol

so it’s useable ajd it is ig off. But the same fuse box is full of RAP circuits, more so infact, and that would be more desirable and also mean that it would be run down and rap protected where by certain ign on circuits are not run down protected which means a key on would drain faster than key on in run down which allows a lot of time key on without screwing the proverbial cooche
Let me go show you my fuse box

and the Concern isn’t a green LED but I think the sockets have a blue or similar light around the frame that would be annoying and use about .5 amps which isn’t a lot but it is something

and bleeding energy on the wiring unnecessarily to a doofus a lot of pass through a lot of wire to shove energy through and I believe that small conductive paths in atmosphere and the fuse box itself lead to a increase in corrosion and electronic wear on things related because that flow of electrons

I pulled that last part mostly out of my ass but I wiped it for you at least, sortA

If you don’t have a sunroof you can use the fuse for 20amps of hot all times, but I believe run down protect (possibly wrong), and then the 10amp cd changer can be the trigger for a relay or just one side maybe(idk the required for both sides to have 2 fast charge slots) and then bam all the nice luxury of Park Avenue but still looks cringey to drive.1763A897-B289-4FBB-AEFD-5D5C43B2C1B8.webp

if your daughter is like me she will make great use of the large backseat

I’m joking I hope you know.
Also too bad this wasn’t the backseat bus:

Looking at it on the phone, I did not notice the detail of the port. I now see it enlarged and it appears to be the adapter type.

Each port on it says 2.1A so output current is 4.2a and input is 12/24v, so I just need to remove the 15a and put in 5a

All righty then, it's just a USB port that needs to have a switched off on the ignition side. Find a power source that switches off with ignition and that's all is needed. Not complicated as it's the same basic wiring that I've done on vehicles, boats and riding lawnmower.

are you intending to hook into the harness for the old socket? if so, sure you can drop your fuse down to 5.....
but you want at least a 7.5amp fuse if two things are pluggedi n and charging fast which makes it like 4.9amps or something close, which is too close to the rating. the current fuse would work, because you arent going to exceed the wiring but you can exceed the plug even with a limiting fuse, but that would be from resistance most likely

I would just throw a 10 unless you have a 7.5 i think fords have them so any auto store

\

also, are you intending to wire directly to hot then.. ? if you want to keep the fuses ou are using... then you are going to need to put a delphi/packard terminal on the right power wire and put in the right spot OR you can chop the right wire before the terminal, and tie in there. do you need help finding the right ones or
