So my LeSabre has reached 110,000 miles and it has started the 3800 v6 series ll intake leak. Right now it seems to be just coming from the upper front. Im thinking probably do the upper and bottom while taking apart. Any ideas on what brands are best for this job. Plenum seems alright but probably should just buy whole kit. Anyone have good results with their replacement parts please share.

Thank you for the help. Don't wanna buy crap and have a bunch of problems. I had heard atp was good and metal was the way to go on the lower intake and the elbows.

Yes, ATP is the way to go. Better design than OEM. Steel FelPro gaskets are best.

You might want to do your rear valve cover gasket while you got everything apart. Also, maybe change the thermostat if it still original.

Excellent, that is the combo I ordered the cost was a little more than the others but well worth it in the long run. Thank you for your help. And the reminder on the valve covers also.

Be SUPER CAREFUL tightening the upper intake. it doesnt have metal torque limiters, you can easily damage the intake. Dont ask how I know.

I have heard that people have ran into that. And I'm glad you said that. So my question is this, is 11ft.pds the correct setting for that upper plastic intake?

It's 89 inch pounds (7.2 foot pounds)
Use an inch pound torque wrench or tighten by feel if you feel comfortable doing so.
Read the instructions carefully on the correct tightening procedure.

Just did this whole "job" months ago. Worked-out great. Elbows also.

If you're doing the lower also, here's some torque specs:

My other "advice" is to take pictures of each step as you go. If you're like me, there are times where I say: "Now...where the hell did this go?"

Thank you for all of the info. So glad you included the lim also. Yeah I'm doing the whole job in luding elbows as the original plastic ones are still in the car. And I am one of those where the hell did this go people also. Thanks for all the diagrams etc. Gonna help me from chasing around.

Glad to help! I know that when I was assembling everything back together, there were some cables and shift cables that caused me to pause. That's where taking a picture or figuring-out a way to remember how parts go back in place is a great help. Good Luck with everything. Don't rush and keep things in the order of removal.

Alright so I'm ready to get a little emotional, I did everything by the instructions and videos that were provided to me. And much thks to everyone. 2002 Buick LeSabre. Replaced intake gaskets and put in metal elbows. I finished the job with pictures taken also. I started her up and she ran for about five minutes as I was topping off the coolant and all the sudden it made like a sucking in, whoosh type sound and died. Now first, I did rig a hose around the vacuum lines that go to the fuel regulator and the evaporator emission canister purge solenoid valve. The vacuum lines broke on the corner with the u turn, worn out plastic and rubber, where it locks on with the plastic end. I did order one and should have waited. Either way the new one is on the car. Also now wondering if that purge valve is any good? Not sure what went wrong but since it died it will not start, It acts like it won't fire, so thinking of hitting it with a shot of starting fluid and see if I can eliminate something. I just wanted to include the story about the vacuum lines and the things they go to for full disclosure. So any ideas or advice I am open to before I start to tear anything apart.

Check for spark first & if you have spark, check the brake booster vacuum connection @ the manifold & booster, as well as the check valve. Small vacuum leaks do not make "a sucking in, whoosh type sound and die"! That sounds like a major vacuum leak!

There may have been a failure at one of the gasket junctions. Check for coolant in your oil. Check for coolant in the front spark plug holes. Does it turn over?

So I did not see any coolant in the oil, there was also no gain on the dipstick. Also have not lost any coolant . I did pull the middle front spark plug and it did spark. And yes has been turning over.

Did you run out of gas? Check that the fuel lines are not kinked. Check every vacuum line. Do you hear the fuel pump for 2 seconds after you turn the key to RUN (not running)?

Then use a rag to catch any fuel spray as you check for pressure at the fitting valve on the fuel rail. Check that the oil pressure sender has not cracked open.

I pulled the middle front plug and it sparked. Should I check more? When I put the new upper intake on it came with the new plastic hookup for the brake booster. I double checked and they are all on. The check valve is still connected . Not sure what else to do there. Never had a problem with brakes before this. But The connection seems to be alright from visual inspection.

Also check the PCV valve housing, spring and o-ring.
