This is an app I stumbled across some months ago.

Provided you have the right kind of OBDII adapter, the app and all its advertised functions work just fine on our cars. The developer is very responsive as well.

The app is free and should work with the US versions of Insignia B:

The app is free, but there are certain functions which require in-app payment to unlock. For example, if you've upgraded your cluster to the 8-inch screen, you can change themes or activate menus through the app. I can't speak as to whether that's possible for the 4" screen, but I would assume it would be. You can also activate language options/change themes within HMI, along with a few other fun tools.

Can't recommend it highly enough.

Do you know if you can change themes within HMI on 2018+ vehicles i.e. white needles? Looking to change from Buick to Opel.

Can't say for sure on that point - mine's a red needle 2018 - but I would think you would be able to do that on a white needle as well. Don't quote me though...

The proper dongle is about $60
The website recommends 2 types.

This is the same kind of stuff White Automotive and Media Services did for me with my GS cluster. If the same types of things can be unlocked, this is a neat tool, but there are limitations to customization with how our cluster and HMI are setup (i.e. some themes or brand changes are not possible).

That may be true, but there aren't many themes which aren't available, at least so far as the cluster is concerned. (Off the top of my head, you can get Opel/OPC/Unlimited, Vauxhall/VXR, Buick stock/GS, Chevrolet, and Cadillac using this app.)

I've been unable to try it on my car as the app keeps crashing on my phone.

Does anyone know if you can make it remove the added gauges? For example if I needed to go in for warranty work and the dealers see the custom/different gauges 😁

I just tried it out.
Doesn't do much without a $7 yearly subscription.
Then it is a fairly good diagnostic tool. Checks all monitors and modules.
Cleared codes, etc.
But, for any gauge revisions, it will be $59 for access.
I think not......

Speed sign recognition would be handy. Does anyone know if that function is baked in but not turned on for all models. In other words is the underpinning hardware fitted by default?

I'm not sure but I think it is connected to the camers in rear view mirror if rsv has one maybe it will work

So if I understand correctly, this seems like a favorable approach to unlock the extra menus vs White Auto 1) cheaper even with the $59 add on fee and 2) no dash disassembly 3) most importantly no need to be without a cluster while they update.
