ALSO here is that hose thing I mentioned, you should upgrade that with pan down
Where is this house located? I bought one of these parts on eBay to replace when doing the magnet tsb and filter change but have no idea how to do it or where it goes? I'm also doing a shift kit so I'll have the lines out of the accumulator. Is this one of those lines to the accumulator?

I would skip the flush. Just do a pan and fluid. Also, put the TSB magnets on the pan if your new pan does not have that.

also, you should do the upgraded differential lube hose too on the bottom of the trans
you should use Dex VI (8 quarts or so for pan drop and fill) and a new filter/seal. your original gasket for pan should be good. torque wrench on the pan bolts.

you should also put a trans cooler in if you want to save it for the future as much as possible (plumbed before your radiator one)

you should also flush your PS fluid and use GM power steering fluid or any quality PS fluid(NOT DEX or ATF)
Coolant, good idea, new thermostat/dex fill, if its dirty you may want to water flush a few times. make sure to align thermostat properly and jiggle pin(or make one if you dont have one) to avoid crushing t-stat.

What is the difference if the aux trans cooler is plumbed before the radiator cooler vs after the radiator?

The aux cooler after the radiator will cool the fluid too much in cold weather,
Before it, it can cool the fluid , but the radiator WILL bring it up to temp it should be much faster than an auxillary
 
Like the PA Ultra trans cooler that was originally installed & had both an internal radiator cooler, then it went trough an external cooler to cool the fluid more before returning to the trans. It works like that, regardless of the ambient temp.

So I could hook it up the aux after the stock cooler? I live in florida anyways and mainly want it to cool the trans fluid not warm it

thats perfectly fine in your case. if you lived by me in wisconsin youd be advised to heat it more. but you can seasonally block the cooler in my climate , too
 
I have an older imported SUV with 4WD and auto trans. I did some work and replaced the radiator. Instead of plumbing the trans cooler back into the bottom of the new rad, I bypassed it altogether and added an external cooler with its own fan.

The key to having it cool just the right amount was to include a DeRale thermostatic valve. It is that gray device on the left side of the image.

It allows 10% of the fluid to pass to the cooler at all times, and as the fluid heats up, it diverts more into the cooler. I added the temp switch to control the fan. As you can see, I placed the cooler out of the direct path to the rad and AC so they can do their jobs while the external cooler does its job. I have been 4-wheeling with it with no issues.

I suspect that it could be added to your car after the rad cooler to ensure that it always has the right amount of cooling. Optionally, you could make it a parallel installation instead of serial, thereby adding extra capacity without over-cooling.

I wish I had that much space to install I could put one with a fan. That looks like a nice setup. I plan on using the barbed elbows also when I hook it up. Does that cause any pressure drop?
 
I just looked under the car and I see no way I can cut the hose to run the cooler in. It's too tight of a fit. Would there be a way to cut the steel line do you think? I could probably reach in and do that as I was replacing my radiator the other day and the steel lines are pretty easy to access
 
I would consider NOT cutting lines, but instead unfasten the line to the radiator, then use an adapter on the line and one on the radiator to allow you to plumb in an additional cooler. Doing it this way adds it in series so that the fluid must pass through both, first one and then the other.

To add one in parallel, you would need to use adapters on both hoses and radiator fittings.

By using adapters you are able to restore the original function by simply unscrewing some fittings.

What are the fittings called that would fit on the radiator and line? That's a great idea and easier location to work on. I would hook it up on the lower return line since I'm in florida
