You do not have to turn the key to on, just find the harness in the trunk and connect the two prongs together and hit and hold the lock or unlock to program. Lease that is what I did and it worked.

Correct, sorry. The FSM does not state to turn the key on. I started doing that though as I've had (slightly) better luck getting the things to work.

i have a 92 rms ltd its came with keyless but the previous owner lost the remote i got one of of ebay (just got it today actually) tried the programming process that was talked about here using a paper clip which i tried or a wired which i tried to just be on the safe side both tripped the the locks and trunk like stated above but i go to click the key fob and nothing happens i put new batteries in it i went to advanced auto parts and checked the fob on their tester and it worked so i think i was sold the wrong fob does anyone know the part number for a 92 RMS LTD keyless fob

You can not click it, some you have to hold for a second or two. Cheap remote have one problem weak signal so have to hold longer than factory but it should still work, just try holding the lock or unlock longer.

hmm try disconnecting the car battery for 10 seconds then reconnect it.. when I first tried to hook my remote up, it wouldn't do anything when i would stick a flat head screw driver in the keyless entry plug, but when i reconnected the battery, it worked fine...

I still have my factory remote but it just quit working. The tester said that it was fine yet could not get it to unlock or lock doors. Yet the trunk button still worked. I was told maybe I damaged the circuit board on the remote.

My 92 RML only makes an unlock or lock sound, no horn beep, or headlight flash.. the inside lights do go on and off though...

It is to lock, unlock, and trunk release. Not an alarm, it will not mess with the horn or lights. Except for the interior ones that is. 😀 Go to keyless ride.com for aftermarket replacement remotes, also on ebay and cheaper than factory ones. Not sure if I can put up site links so that is why for the space.

This should be good for 94-96 🙂

5. If you want to disable the unlock on shifting into Park feature, perform the following sequence three times with no more than one second between presses. Press the door lock button, press the door unlock button, press the trunk button. Repeat the sequence two more times with no more than one second between button presses.

The receiver will cycle through the lock, unlock, trunk sequence three times as verification.

I did this and after wondering it for a while this really worked as it is written. But what i actually wanted to do was to disable the locking of the doors when shifting from park because that is really not needed here and it is really annoying. 🙂

Can this be programmed or do i need to cut some wires?

i have a 94 i got a keypad from a buick roadmaster at the yard it is a buick keypad made by trw i also got a spare keyless entry box

there is no plug as shown in the picture on page 2 also the "extra" box i got from the yard just clicks when i plug it in. my original doesnt do anything at all

WTF.jpg

I am attempting to reprogram my keyless remotes and reading this post it sounds like a walk in the park but it is turning into a headache. I'm not seeing what is described so I took a picture and hopefully someone is kind enough to point me in the right direction. The wire with the sun on it closest to the camera goes to the wiring harness for the trailer, the remainder of the wires for the harness are what you see leaving the photo on the left.
