I am looking for the location on the transmission cooler return line where the return line comes in from the transmission oil cooler and connects into the transmission . A pic would be greatly appreciated.

No pic but may be of help

Is number 9 the return from the cooler ?

Awesome , I’m going to change the fluid in the pan , install a new pan with drain and new filter and one quart at a time I will remove the oil from rest of the transmission by starting and stoping the engine after each court is filled replacing with a new quart . Then I will do the same with the power steering fluid and coolant as they are all twenty years old

I would skip the flush. Just do a pan and fluid. Also, put the TSB magnets on the pan if your new pan does not have that.

also, you should do the upgraded differential lube hose too on the bottom of the trans
you should use Dex VI (8 quarts or so for pan drop and fill) and a new filter/seal. your original gasket for pan should be good. torque wrench on the pan bolts.

you should also put a trans cooler in if you want to save it for the future as much as possible (plumbed before your radiator one)

you should also flush your PS fluid and use GM power steering fluid or any quality PS fluid(NOT DEX or ATF)
Coolant, good idea, new thermostat/dex fill, if its dirty you may want to water flush a few times. make sure to align thermostat properly and jiggle pin(or make one if you dont have one) to avoid crushing t-stat.

I need to order the tsb magnet , I lost my book do you have part number for magnets , I believe a big square one and a few little roundbones

I already bought the ac delco trans fluid 16 qts and am going to do it as I mentioned as I want to get rid as much of the old fluid as I can , I have Ac delco power steering fluid , the gm recommended ac delco fluid although I don’t have the part number with me , the car only had 15000 mikes on it last nov so the power steering fluid shouldn’t be dirty but I will keep flushing it until it comes out clear as I spent 88 on ps fluid , I stocked up . But the coolant although 20 years old is very clean

2 of those

The placement is one replaced the square OEM one and then one goes on a certain place attached to the filter.

you CAN remove that fluid, but GM doesnt say flushes except for major failure, and I would trust them on it related to that. good on your PS fluid thing, thats good fluid. The coolant was probably replaced in part at some point which is not a bad thing for your situation.

your mileage is low enough I dont think flushing your trans makes sense especially given that reality. I would, instead, put dex vi and then 15-30k later do it again, even a flush if you desire. however flushing even tho i say doesnt make much sense, your low mileage you also stand to risk the least doing so.

Also reset the TAP after fluid is replaced.

Where exactly on the filter does this go as it’s a thick magnet and there isn’t lots of room between the filter and the pan ?

Sorry but I can’t bring up attachment as it only wants to down load and when I go to down loads it isn’t there

I did mention I am OCD 🤣
that wouldnt be an OCD thing its more like responding to a small wasp nest with a 25 gallon 12 volt sprayer with dish soap added to water and then ensuring there are no survivors anywhere

i must be clear that i would support such uses of force against that enemy

Hey you should see the wasps we have here , they build their nest under the grass and they kill bees. But the other wasps that build their nest under the roof edge we welcome because they kill spiders ,😳
