2008 Buick Lucerne CXS
I have a 2008 Buick Lucerne with 60,000 miles. The car is at the dealer for another issue. Car is leaking power steering fluid and transmission fluid. Disagnosed as leaking power steering rack and learking transmission line - Estimated at $1650 to repair.

Has anyone else run it these leaks?

I have the same problem on my 2009. The dealer has to replace the whole rack & Pinion steering setup. Luckily, I have 49238 miles on it and it is covered by factory warranty. I had a 1996 Riviera and I had to replace two of the rack systems. I had to pay for both of those at a cost of around 1800.00 a piece.

I'm not suprised about the estimate. It took me 10's of hours to do the rack in my wife's Lesabre and I don't see a Lucerne being any easier. I wouldn't be surprised a shop would take 8 hours. At a shop rate of (being conservative) $80/hr, that would be $640 for labor alone. Labor would likey be closer to $800 for the rack alone. Then comes the cost of the rack itself, new fluid, and other shop supplies.

The dealer replaced the steering rack with a remanufacturered unit and also found and replaced a leaking power steering line....as and replaired a leaking transmission cooling line (apparnetly the problem was some sort of fitting). Since the work was covered by warranty, there was no breakdown on the parts and labor on the final invoice.
