2020 TourX and GS

Just got some bad news from my salesman.
My order got cancelled. According to him, the GM sales rep said they are not going to have the TourX in the U.S.
My fellow 2020 owners-to-be, would you please check and see if your vehicle is still inbound?

Why is the 2020 TourX on the Buick website? Something doesn’t compute.

Hurry up and get a Buick with the good warranty before the 2020s become even more Chevy like due to the warranty reduction.

Sigh, gotta settle for secondary choices of colors.
Primary choice of color is way too far to buy online without seeing in person.

I took the chance and worked out for me.

The primary choice of color is half the country away and simply racks up the miles on the trade along with the new ride. 😩
In addition, my state does not require front plate. Therefore I really prefer to keep the clean look without the brackets.

What exactly is "lot rot"?

I got my order in and the last update I have is that it was built 10/13/19. I'll let you know if it ever shows up.

The concept by some that the car slowly degrades as it sits there unloved on the lot. I honestly think it depends on the dealer. My 2018 had been in dealer inventory for at least a year when I got it but did have 40 miles on it when I slipped behind the wheel for a test drive. It had spent several months of that time in the showroom behind tinted glass (dealers here in the Southwest sometimes tint there showroom windows).

If an early build 2018 had been sitting on a dealer's lot until today, 0 miles - I might be a little nervous about how long it had sat.

My 2020 Regal Sportback Essence, built 8-29-19, finally, FINALLY, shows a 3550 status, "Import Vehicle Shipped from Port of Origin".

Typical lot rot could include: dead battery, tires that are cracked or flat spotted from sitting, brake pad/rotor issues due to rust, contaminated fuel, general loss of fluid effectiveness(oild, transmission fluid, etc), cracked wipers, rubber seal cracks, etc.

If a car was driven at least occasionally and got up to operating temp for even a few minutes that helps a lot. Worst case would be a car that just sat and wasn't ever driven. So in this case I think there is less of a risk buying a car with a hundred or maybe couple hundred miles vs. a car that sat for a year and had like 10mi on it.

Rot Lot

The 2006 F-150 "Nascar" edition I bought at 50% of MSRP way back when was sitting on the lot for 20 months. Dealership just changed hands & I made an lowball bid. I walked, then they called back and accepted my offer.
Paint was starting to fade, decals bleaching out, surface rust here and there. water in the oil, weak battery, flat spotted tires etc. Zero miles that was problem. Truck was fine, but sitting on a lot hurts a vehicle.

Have the car shipped , Message me I can give recommendations.

My suggestion ....fly out there over a weekend...take it for a test drive, inspect, then do the deal. You can always find someone to ship it if you don't want to drive it back(or don't have the time).

You can also sell your car at Car Max. Take that money and apply it to the new car. You lose a little in the way the taxes work, but it would probably be a wash vs. driving the car out there.

That is a good idea. Haven't thought about that even I keep seeing their "WBYCEIYDBO" commercials. Only catch is, the closest one is about 200 miles away! 🤣

Try Carvana or Vroom. They will give you a quote to buy immediately, and they will pick up the car at your house.

Carmax suck balls (for both buying and selling)

Dealers trying to unload courtesy loaners with high mileage as new cars everywhere now.
So, they are selling above certified used car pricing just because it was never titled, but nonetheles has the mileage of a used car.

Are you East Coast? Is Va to far to drive for pickup? Got a line on a fully loaded essence, white.
