A/C Compressor Noise?

I've had my TourX for 2 1/2 years now, and I still get compliments on it's appearance. Getting an oil change in a week or so and am going to swing by the dealer before then to review this AC line noise issue and solution I would like them to try. Only other issues I've had is the satellite radio antenna needed to be replaced, the back up camera sometimes drops the back up assist lines from the picture (just slide it into neutral and back into R and they come back, I'm just going to live with it), also there is a rattle, not sure where it's coming from, a passenger side door I think, but am just going to live with it because there is no guarantee they screw it back together as good as new. I've seen speculation about the Panoramic sunroof being the culprit, I don't think that's it. Also, my radio presets need to be reset every few months or so because they grey out and no longer work, probably need a new head unit, but I think I'm going to live with that too because I can't replicate it for the tech. Don't mean to sound like I don't love the car, because I do, it's been reliable, comfortable transportation. I've owned many BMWs, Mazdas, Porsche, and Lexus's, no brand is perfect, this Buick is as good as any of them.

Thank you, I've been waiting a year to address this, and now at least I have a possible solution, much appreciated!
Are you able to touch base with Carlton and get them to provide more info on this?

My service appointment is in a couple weeks, they squeezed me in for a quick oil change in the meantime. I will probably try before that and provide his contact information to the Service Manager and Tech working on my car, thanks again.

I know this is an old thread, but I just bought a 2020 TourX that had the same issue. My dealer adjusted and tightened the compressor lines so they would no longer make contact with the cars body. Completely quiet now.
I’m glad I saw this thread and your post. I’ve been dealing with this issue. Thankfully I just relocated to the NCR and have an appointment tomorrow morning with Lindsay Buick a after talking to Carlton.
My tourx will hopefully be fixed! I’ll report back.

Here's our story: 2020 Tourx has had the compressor moan since new. A month ago the A/C started blowing hot. It was going in to the dealer for its second oil change and so had them address the failure under warranty. They found the charge had leaked down. After replacing a hose and some fittings and a recharge it is fine and the moan is about half of what it was!!

If possible, find out which lines were adjusted. Top of the engine bay or behind the front bumper cover, etc.

Absolutely, I’ll provide a detailed write up on what I find out.
I’ll see if the Tech can upload results in the system with a tracking number for other GM techs to look ip as well.

A tracking number would be great! If possible could you have Carlton give you the tracking number for the repair poster "Regal Wagon" had done before yours? My dealer did what I expected: He said he had to follow GM procedure and did not find the resolution "Regal Wagon" had received in the GM system. I gave him copies of the post from others regarding the futility of replacing compressors, changing refrigerant in the system etc. I showed him specifically the solution was to make sure the lines were not contacting the bodywork, the service manager refused to call Carlton to ask for the tracking number, it was ridiculous. I asked him to have GM check their system for repairs done by that dealership on Regals, he wouldn't do it. And on top of that, he said his tech could not replicate the noise, even though I had given him a video of me doing just that, turning the AC off and the sound disappearing.

The rattle may be the skid plate was not screwed on right after an oil change. Happened to me.

Greyed out radio presets - sounds like you need the infotainment updated. I had this exact annoying issue for months upon months. It was fixed with 22.9 update, now they are on 22.11 fyi. Only the dealer can perform this, note it is free so don't let them try to charge you for it. If they try, I'd leave immediately and find a different dealer as you're not dealing with an honest one. Dealer replaced my antenna and HU [before 22.9 came out] trying to fix the presets issue...I told them it wouldn't work and it didn't. If you already have the 22.9 update, ignore all the above...and in that case I'd say yeah you need your HU and/or antenna replaced.

Thanks for the info on the software update.

UPDATE:

Carlton has been extremely helpful and persistent; the way a service writer/manager should be.
Lindsay Buick GMC- Warrenton, VA

I originally scheduled for the AC noise but also (at the time of appointment) asked to check our my LCAs due to some noise.

2020 Tourx Essence (15k miles)

They were all over the wagon for the AC, and even had a Regal Sportback 2.0 in the shop simultaneously for a comparison vehicle. The Sportback was much quieter and they were taken aback how much louder mine was. Carlton said he was going to order a new compressor and see if that fixes it. He had to order as it wasnt in stock, should be in today. He said, persistently and confidently, if that doesn’t fix it, we WILL find the issue and fix it. Man… this guy is good.

The LCAs we discovered were failing and surprisingly they had them in stock! Carlton showed me the updated TSB where 2020s were covered (as I mentioned previous dealer over a year ago referred to TSB for 2018-19s- denied my repair). LCAs replaced and clunk is gone!

Carlton stated he is there for his customers. I also showed him this thread for his awareness and the requests from others on here. He is tracking.
This dealer is 1hr10min from me and have passed 15 or so other dealers on my route to them. Glad I did.

More to follow on complete repair.

LCA is Lower Control Arm, front suspension? Is there a TSB on this? Mine is a 2019,

Thanks

Any updates on your AC noise resolution?

Any updates on your AC noise resolution?
Yes, they seemed to have ordered the wrong ac compressor last week. And it should have arrived today.

More to follow tomorrow on any updates.

UPDATE:

I was able to pick up the Tourx last week and they were able to:

-Change the AC Compressor
-Adjust the lines
-Evac and refill the refrigerant to proper levels

Unfortunately the noise is still there. They did open a GM Technical Assistance Center (TAC) CASE # 9-7052152531 to address this. They said that all they could do to repair it. Carlton and his team did a great job but just couldn’t overcome this one. You can tell they were upset because they truly believe in customer satisfaction.

To let everyone know, this dealer is 1hr15min from me and it was 0530 wake ups to get there when they open for these appointments. Time not wasted in my opinion.

Now to try another closer dealer IN AN ATTEMPT to get the regional technician to diagnose the wagon.

Thanks for the update. Sorry to hear you did not get resolution to the AC noise. If yours had been successful, I was ready to drive hours to that dealership to get mine fixed too. My dealership could not find the previous successful resolution of this problem from this dealership, my dealership did open a TAC case on it though, and sent them the video I made of the noise in my car. Let's keep trying, I'm going in for a new rear window regulator in early December (earliest they could get me in?). There needs to be a TSB issued on this, with a resolution, but it appears Carlton could not reproduce his previous successful solution. Good luck. Enjoy your TourX, I still enjoy mine, small flaws and all.

Can you upload a new video how loud your AC Compressor is now after the compressor and line change?

Please view YouTube video of my car.
Quick revs in the car to 2k RPMs with AC on and compressor on, and turn it off for more comparison revs.
Once I turn it back on, 0:46 in the video you can hear the compressor come back on, and repeat revs.

UPDATE:

I’ve opened a case with Buick and they are attempting to locate another dealer to attempt to fix my car.
But from several conversations with the Customer Service Representative (CSR) and their candor in regard to this situation, they mentioned “Buick doesn’t seem to have a fix” and “if the problem is too annoying, you can consider trading your vehicle in.”

Straight from the CSR’s mouth. Wow.
I’ll keep you all posted….
