A/C Compressor Noise?

I am in the middle of changing my compressor, which also requires several other parts to be replaced along with flushing the lines and recharging. Before my compressor died, the AC was annoyingly loud, so I'm hoping all of this work will somehow address that issue as well. I've had to disconnect and disturb the original positioning of all AC lines during this process and today I'll be disassembling most of the dashboard in order to reach the evaporator and expansion valve. It's about as close as you can get to doing a full AC system replacement without replacing the lines. I will report back on the results.

On a related note... you do NOT want to undertake this project unless it's absolutely necessary. A compressor failure will most likely send metal shavings throughout the entire system and not properly cleaning the system is just asking for future problems. Easily the worst car maintenance project I've ever done.

My AC system is quiet now. I ended up getting a used compressor from a 2021 Blazer and an evaporator core from a 2020 TourX. Replaced all seals and washers, and flushed the lines. I added 2 oz of PAG oil to the compressor and 2 oz in the high side service port, and then added 20 oz of 1234yf Freon with 1/4 oz of dye.

I may have a little too much Freon in there, so I’m gonna have that checked. It’s super quiet though.
