Active suspension

I apologize if this post has been previously discussed. I have a 2011 Regal 2.0 with active suspension. I purchased the car new and have 180k miles on her. I’ve found front struts but I’m having a tough time finding the rear shock absorbers for the active suspension. GM OEM parts 13319749/13319750 have been discontinued. I can’t find any aftermarket shocks to fit. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Check AC Delco and if part number has possibly been changed.

They may work for additional Regals with active suspension. I used my original module and it works fine. I ordered everything from Summit and they will cross reference the part with your model to verify it fits.

Hello, I also drive a 2011 Buick Regal T that needs a driver side rear shock with active assist. It's GM PART # 22834093 and it's impossible to find. I was told that if an aftermarket shock is installed without the active assist, it won't communicate to the suspension and will cause an error resulting in the service engine light will come on and never go away. Is this true?

That’s true. I’m waiting on the same strut/shock. I did find this on Amazon that may allow us to use aftermarket struts.

On other GM vehicles that have similar active systems that have converted over to standard struts and shocks have used a resistor on each unit to cancel the warnings. Can't say this would apply to the Regal but may be a option to check out.

The rear shock GM Part # is 22834093. When I google this, I keep getting Insignia parts. I understand Insignia is the European Buick. Will Insignia parts work with a Buick? More importantly, would an Insignia rear shock with active assist work with the Buick's active assist? Thanks

Possibly, just make sure the upper mount is same as OEM and the active assist connector is on new strut unless you choose to use the bypass resistor.

You called the dealer and they told you it was discontinued, or on back order, or you would have to come in and pay for it so they could order it?

They said it's discontinued and can't find it anywhere in the country. So what I'm coming to the realization is that I have to just buy a aftermarket shock without the active assist and buy an adapter.

Thanks for trying to help. Funny, I tried this exact website. I was able to purchase the item. Then 2 days later they emailed me stating that the part has been discontinued and refunded my money. Not sure why they haven't took down the part from the website. You can't make this stuff up.

Opel insignia OPC is really a Regal GS re badge. Only real difference is that Opel gets a twin turbo 2.8 V6 and sweet 2 piece front rotors. Suspension is exact same. Try this: look at different part #s on shocks. One is gm, one may be sachs or bilstein, etc. So cross reference the other numbers with a euro website, as they often give those on the sites when I looked for discontinued stuff from gm.

I think eventually more and more folks will have to go down this path if we hold long enough.
