2000 Lesabre Custom
I have a 2000 custom and I'm looking for some tires that have an decent spread between being good on road, and dirt and mud. I do a lot of back driving and it often leads into dirt or a 2 to 4 inches of mud at times. Currently have sentury street tires but will need to be replacing them soon. I want something that'll be decent in that mud but isn't an obviously big rugged tire. Still looks decently normal at face value. My current tires have gotten me through that mud but I would prefer something with more bite to it. I get sucked across the road by ruts and often start to cant at an angle going down roads as is. I've been suggested Altamax Atctic 12s and have been told that snow tires are basically all seasons with softer compounds. This is tempting but with the southern Indiana winter likely ending in a few months I'm concerned the head snd humidity might decrease my tire life to an extent I'd be buying tires often. And i don't make that kind of money. Any suggestions?

seems to me you should be looking for tires in what ever size you need intended for off road use, not by vehicle .
look at tirerack.com

why are your roads 2-4 inches of mud. call your highway dept thats unacceptable, get some gravel in there

you should NOT use a snow tire in mud conditions, but you should use it in winter. if you dont want to get a snow tire, you should get an all season tire which isnt a "touring" type but rather a "all weather" which doesnt exist but they name them anyway

I would drive a different road.

I'm sure I mentioned but I do a lot of backrosd driving. I find it relaxing and just want to find some good tires that will manage it better than my street tires.

I fail to understand why you would want to turn an 2000 LeSabre into a mud slinger? I have a Jeep for that purpose!

my 2001 aurora had the pleasure of taking a unmaintained dirt road with no gravel, no sun access, and apparently was a place that retained water. the clay content was high. I was WOT at the end covering my car in mud but if i didnt WOT i would have been stuck at leastenough to require using a comealong to first winch like 6 feet forward and to the side to bring me to solid ground to be able to continue. I didnt get stuck tho, I was only 3/4 the way mud and stopped at my gpas to wash my windshield LOL

OP I think you may have exaggerated the mud depth because the mud im talking about wasnt much deeper... lol
