Android auto

I hate saying how much my phone was!
I can only wish the phone cost $70.
I didn't even get the best; the iPhone 13's were out already, and I bought a 12 Pro.

I assume you weren't using a Cell Phone when making Calls in the car before?
I've never used OnStar, so I'm not familiar with how it works.

The only part I don't care for with the Car Play - Android Auto Feature is that you
have to have the phone plugged into the USB Port.
Not really sure why it has Bluetooth if we have to be plugged in?
I've had this feature for over a year now, guess I'm used to it now?

You don't have to touch much to make things work, I just have Siri (Assistant) do it all
(Siri is Apples Assistant)!
In your case it will be the Google Assistant, just say: Hey Google, Call/Text Ken4 (or however
it's listed in your contact list on your phone once you add contacts).
If I say Hey Siri, Text Ken4; Siri will ask me what I want to say, they Siri reads my message back to
me and asks if I want to send it or change it.

I got my phone and paired it to the car with Bluetooth. Most of the time when I try to used Voice it says it has not heard me and hangs up. Am I doing something wrong or does it need a fix. I have not had the Android auto update yet and I am undecided about getting it done.

I'm not the guy to ask about the Hand Free that came with the Vehicle, I've never used it.
My wife (2013 GMC Terrain) and my daughter (2015 Chevy Equinox) both use the Hands
Free that was available from the Factory, but I've never tried it in their vehicles either.
Neither of their vehicles can be upgraded to the Apple Car Play/Android Auto Feature.

I've only used Hand Free while using Apple Car Play!
But I mainly am Using Texting while using Apple Car Play.
Most of the people I talk to don't like using the phone as a phone, they Text instead!
Car Play uses Siri (Assistant) that's on an iPhone.

I wonder if you Microphone is working?
Check in the Setting for your Radio and see if the Microphone is turned on.
That's a good place to start since it says it can't hear you.

What command are you saying?

Call and then the number.

It works fine with the OnStar.

After you say call, do you wait for a response?
Do you mean say call wait for a response and then the number? On my other GM car I say call and the number right after that and it works fine.

Yes, wait for a request to say the number

Sounds to me like MelsRegal is saying to say: Call
Then you need to wait for a Response.
Once you get a Response, say the Number you want to dial.

That's part of the reason I like the Apple Car Play.
Apple Car Play uses your iPhones Contact List.
I assume Android Auto is the same or very close.

My iPhones Contact List is right there, and I only need say: "Call Ken4"
I don't have to remember your number, my wife's number or anyone
else's number, as their all already in my Contact List!

If I want to Text my wife I say: "Text Lisa"
If there is more than one Lisa in my Contact List, I'd have to say the
last name too!

I have it working now. When I press the voice button a screen in front of the steering wheel pops open and give me a selection of different functions. I needed to select phone audio for this to work. Now I press the voice button and say call and the number. I need to play around and see if it does more. My other car has the android auto in it so I will try that out before I pay $132 to have it installed in my Regal. The Bluetooth and voice is pretty good as I only have one number (my wife) that I call.

Do you have Android Auto on your phone?
Do you have on the center screen a icon that says Projection?
If yes to both questions, have you pressed the Projection icon?

I have android auto on my phone and I have the projection button on my center screen. When I pressed the projection icon nothing happened. When I paired it to my 2016 Cadillac XTS it worked when I pressed the projection icon. The XTS also is a early 2016 production car and the dealer did the Android Auto up grade to the car before they sold it to me. That was done in accordance with the April of 2016 bullitan when Android auto became available. GM cars manufactured after that date came from the factory with it. My 2016 Regal was manufactured in the first half of January of 2016 and things point to the fact that it does not have the upgrade. I will go try it again the next time I drive it. Thanks

No, it was connected with the cable that came with the phone. This reminds me I should get another. Thanks.
