Auto-start-stop in my opinion is the absolute worst part of the Tourx. Even more egregious is that GM doesn't let you turn it off, but the Opel and Vauxhall versions of our cars can. In fact, had I of known that it couldn't be disabled, I probably would not have bought my 2018 Tourx.

After reading on these forums, I decided to go with the SmartStopStart .com module that fits inline with the hood sensor. I didn't want anything plugged into the OBD2 port, especially after reading about how the 2.0L engine is no longer officially supported with that method. I also didn't want to do a Trifecta tune as I have no interest in modding the car's performance or voiding the warranty.

The module took about 5 minutes to install. It completely changes the driving experience of the car. There's no longer the anticipation of the engine shutting off, having to shift manually to stop it, or having it kill when you are trying to park. Totally worth every penny and I wish I would have bought it sooner.

As far as the remote start functions, I have not noticed any difference despite the instructions provided. I still lock the car and immediately hold the start button on the fob like I always have.

If you are on the fence about a way to defeat auto-start-stop, this is the one. I can't say enough good things about it.

"had I of known that it couldn't be disabled, I probably would not have bought my 2018 Tourx." ... so you didn't research the car at all/test drive? How about ask the dealer or read any reviews? I have some magic beans for you 🙂

Glad you got it how you like it now.

I'm not an idiot, of course I read reviews and did a test drive. Auto-start-stop did not turn on during my test drive, either because the A/C was on or I opened the hood to inspect the engine before the drive.

Or maybe the battery is so low since no one test drove it for months? 😅

Bought the module for my GS after putting up with that horrific stopping for two weeks. It might not have bothered me so much if the climate control fans did not take a nosedive every time ASS activated. Fuel mileage completely unaffected using the module.

What does it run and where can I get one?

Best money I've spent on the TourX! Also, so easy to install. Drop that ASS!!!

I'm using Range plug in with equally good results. The service manager at my dealership uses one as well.

More info on this Range Plug would be nice... like where you got it and how it installs etc..
Thanks !

I Googled "Range Plug ASS"... results were interesting.
🤣

Now you are going to see some interesting ads for a while.

Meanwhile, DuckDuckGo's results are very similar. 😂

Posting a long-term update of the product. After using the SmartStopStart .com module for a little over 5 years now, the module failed. I'm not sure what happened internally to the module, but it will regularly set off the car alarm. When the car is locked, it looks like someone popped open the hood briefly, so the alarm goes off. After removing the module, everything is fine.

Not going to order a replacement, but instead decided to get the Trifecta tune that only disables auto start stop since the warranty is long over.

By request you can get them to program the Trifecta at time of purchase to permanently disable the auto-start-stop even if cruise button is engaged. At the time they didn't charge me extra for it and I've done it on both my TourX and my Sportback. They sent me both tune files in case I ever wanted to have the auto-start-stop work when cruise button was engaged.

If you haven’t already purchased, maybe wait a couple weeks and see if they do a Black Friday special. That’s when I bought my tune and @$$ disable and saved a good bit of money.
